Hands down, the best AU story I've read. Really sad to come to the end, I would so enjoy following them into this time period, and on into the future as you imagine it.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much. The Parachutist (the prequel to this one) will soon be published. In the meanwhile go have a look to my first published novel: The Pilgrimage. It is on Amazon under my real name Laura Radiconcini

Author's Response:

A third sequel didn't came to me. Since I am an out of the closet Twilhard, I am translating it into Italian for my usual  vampiric Christmas gift to my friend and family (I am rather embarassed this time, it is smuttier than I remembered, LOL).

Looking forward to another from your fertile imagination soon!

Author's Response:

Hi dear. I have just a rather short story to post and then ... nothing else for a while. Real life is claiming me, I have a house to restore (metaphorically, not physically), where I hope to move in early next year. So my mind will be all focusing on  contractors, woodwork, tiles etc). They are two flats that belonged to my father and which I'll unify with a staircase - fortunaltely they are one over the other - this getting a sizable home.

What is there to forgive? Edward, having spent time in Europe, particularly Italy, likes soccer, no surprise there! Bella, being the sensible young woman she is, survived her ordeal as I knew she would, most likely helped by her 'gift'. This shield she seems to have will magnify when she is changed, I imagine. That is evidently quite soon, now that Irina has decided to tattle to the Volturi. Some gratitude, for Edward sparing her miserable life! He should have followed his first instinct and ended her! You are absolutely right, it's way better to be alive and traumatized, than untouched and dead! I've noticed how different Edward and Bella  seem in your story and have appreciated that fact several times. Can't wait to read how Edward wreaks vengance on this evil vampire that dared take his Bella from him, even temporarily. I also feel a tiny bit bad for Irina, she sure got sucked into this guy's spell and went against everything she believed in for his sake.

Author's Response:

Now, fights ... they are the most difficult things to write (sex scenes are  easy in comparison), because they should be fast and furious - now we are used to the speed we see in films - so you have to describe bodies in movement, and at the same time not to give the sensation of a slow down. I hope you like the next chapter , tried to give a little space to the psycological angles too.

(a lot of fanfic readers forget the Denali sisters are Russian) Jasper lending her a copy of Gone With the Wind seems in character for him, the Southern gentleman. As for who's at the door, I greatly fear it is Yves. He had a reaction to Bella's scent, I noticed, and not a good one! If it's him, Bella's in big trouble, since she's all alone, with no help!

The luck of the draw turned out very well for Carmen. Her life was a misery as a human , then she was nearly killed at a Volturi "banquet", and blessedly saved by her mate. Eleazar was also fortunate, as he had been alone for centuries. He really loved Carmen , to be so considerate of her feeding habits and patient with her feelings. How could she resist such a caring, thoughtful, avenging mate? It's the dream of many women to find a man like him!

Thank you for the information about lp's. I wasn't aware they went back that far. My mom had lots of 78's when we were small. I remember lp's in junior high, then 45's by the mid-fifties. I'm guessing Edward will find a way to record his compositions, or find someone trustworthy to do it for him. Running into Eleazar may not be such a bad thing, if he has left the service of Aro Volturi. If he hasn't Edward needs to protect Bella from him. Crossing my fingers, I await your decision about which way it goes! See you next time!

Author's Response:

The two chapters after the next one (still happening at the gas station) will tell you what Eleazar is up to and we will look at Spain as it was at that time. I hope you will like them. Unfortunately, when stories don't have Bella and Edward, nor the Cullsn as main characters, readers tend to run away from them (I am posting somewhere else a fic I think is one of my best - The Pilgrimage - an AU set in 1353, obvious with no Cullens, albeit there are two fascinating other characters as protagonists, with some minor Canon people involved. The story is not faring well, as readers and reviewers go. We will see how it fares here, when the pilgrims come to TWCS). Anyway, I think that Carmen and Eleazar story had to be told ...

Until next time, and thank you!

The early days of television, how I remember those! My grandparents had one of the first tv's in Portland, Oregon, in 1947. My nana loved wrestling, especially Gorgeous George! Makes me smile to remember! Bella liking chinese food was a nice little scenario, especially when Edward fed her with the chopsticks. The incident with Jasper was eye-opening, since Bella managed to shield her blood from Jasper's sensitive nose. Her gift is manifesting very strongly, even as a human. Can't wait to see what happens to it when she's a vampire.

Author's Response:

Yes, for me Chinese restaurants were very exotic when I read about them in American novels - At first I could not figure out what were the fortune cookies. Now of course we have one on every corner (But Italians are not good with chopsticks and they have learned to give us forks!). In any case, I thought that it would have been a nice new experience for Italian Bella.

Now, there is something about Edward feeding Bella - it recurs in the Saga and in fanfiction, he is always concerned that she eats enough and he seems to find it endelessly fascinating when she eats. Erotic, even. Maybe because vampires, even the vegetarians, are dominated by thirst and the need to feed.

As for her talent, I have more up my sleeve, you will see.

I like that her shield is already starting to manifest as a human, much like Edward's did.  I don't agree with Edward wanting to keep her human because she may have a power as a Vampire.  If he doesn't turn her, then the Volturi could still find her, note her power thru Eleazar, and change her anyways.  I hope Bella gets a say in all this and Edward allows her to make the decision to change.

Author's Response:

Edward is absolutely non rational when it comes to changing Bella. In this, of course, he is a lot like the Edward from Canon. He has no concept of damning her soul etc. hes experience has been very different, and he has not been brooding for  80 years, but he can't find the resolve yet.

I just chalk it up to the newly-wed year, the getting to know each other and become more of a couple. So, Bella and Edward have a few rather unique problems. I have no doubt they will work them out together, and be much happier for it. The concerts I sort of remember from when I was young, my mother and her mother both loved all music, as do I.( with the exception of rap, which in our home is referred to as 'rap crap', courtesy of my darling husband!) I really laughed at the idea of Bella presenting Edward with a basket of furry appetizers!

I clicked on the link , and the ring is gorgeous! Beautiful and old-fashioned looking, yet timeless. The good stuff is always in style. Like any young newlywed couple, Bella and Edward are planning their life and future. It's oddly normal,  you know what I mean? Makes no difference that he's a vampire, they both want to further their education and do something useful.  I like that! New York  is a good city for them to live in, plenty of people to blend in with. Even in 1945, that was a bustling city of millions, all busy with their own concerns, maybe not too nosy about strangers either.

This was a very good chapter, for both Bella's feelings, as well as Jasper's. I can already see a bond growing between Jasper and Edward, based on Jasper's admiration for his new brother. As for Bella, she's willingly accepting the fact of life in a house full of vampires. She may be modest, but is also very practical. I really like Bella in this story, the way you've written her. Tickled my funnybone when Jasper handed Edward the spare pants Alice sent on the hunt. It embarassed Edward to think Alice had seen him naked, but probably not as much as hearing what she and Jasper were doing, post-hunting! Wait until Bella realizes they all can hear everything in the house. That may take a little getting used to, not having privacy. Hopefully Carlisle will be home soon, then the family will be complete.

Author's Response:

Since my Edward and Bella are more mature than the originals, they are going to cope with the situation in the next chapter!

Yea!  I am so glad you decided to continue this storyline.  There is so much plot you can explore with Bella being introduced both to America and Veggie Vampires - Can't wait.

PS - love all the historical details you add.  I love my Dior shoes today, but had no idea of the history of Dior...  Thanks!

Author's Response:

This is so fun, because I can have Alice predict things ... that I know in fact happened. Next update in 3 days. Thank you very much.

Doing your usual excellent job of research, I didn't notice one thing out of place. I'll bet you do just great on the details of American culture, just as you did on your own Italian culture. Edward is finding that Carlisle hasn't exaggerated the familial bonds between all the Cullens. He and Bella should have no trouble blending right in, being the good souls they are. Like calls to like, doesn't it? So happy to see another story from you, Laura!

Author's Response:

What a nice review to wake up to, this morning! I hope you like the rest too. I have travelled to the US often in my life, and of course - via films and TV serials - the American culture pervades our life too. I have tried to intermingle with the plot of few of my reflections too.

It never hurts to refresh your memory, even though it's been a short time since you finished Parachutist, so I read the prologue anyway. It's great to see this next chapter in Edward and Bella's lives. Looking forward to seeing them fit in with the Cullens and for Bella to adjust to the United States.

Author's Response:
