Pleeeeaaassseeee keep going! I'm so sorry you're dealing with depression. I've been there. Personally, I go into "ok, I'm just going to get through the next hour, day, minute, whatever before I worry about what happens next mode," and/or reward myself after I accomplish or get through something. I use things like reading YOUR stories as rewards. I made the mistake of reading this latest chapter in a fast food restaurant so had to try to control laughing out loud, which you did not make easy. I read a LOT and this story is one of my all-time favorites. Hang in there.

He's 20 years old now so I completely understand your feelings on making the most of loving him every day. I rescued him from a vicious dive-bombing crow in my yard when he was about 6 weeks old. He has tolerated and loved me as his stupid human ever since.
