I thought this was a great chapter. It would not have been realistic if James had gotten the best of a veteren cop. He is a 17 year old BOY and she's a seasoned, trained 28 year old cop who has been called one of the best.
I think the way you wrote it was very believable. So glad Emmett and Alice got there when they did. Edward being left at the benefit was right on the money. His actions, mannerisms, heck everything, was very realistic.
