Sorry, but am I missing something here!?!

Sookie was paid to do a job for Eric, when she went to Dallas.  The money that she earnt was surely not a gift!?! But payemt for services rendered and she most certainly earnt that payment.

How can Bill justify keeping this money from Sookie by saying that she would not accept it, as she would consider it a gift?  That has to be the most converluted and f***ed up reasoning I have ever heard.  I cannot understand why Eric would accept this flakey excuse...

Author's Response:

Sookie wasn't paid directly - Bill was paid (kind of like a manager) & then gave Sookie her "cut' so to speak. Eric didn't accept his flaky excuse, it's just at this point in the story, after Eric's line of questioning..he concludes what he already knew instinctively, that Bill is young, immature & trying to keep Sookie under his thumb & away from Eric. What better way to do that by controlling her money? So when Eric leaves,  he already knows it's over & that's the point...he knows Bill is an F-up & is saying (without directly saying) that he is on to him, has lost & Eric has just put himself in the running w/this huge bit of crucual information.

We find out, or it's implied in the actual series that Sookie didn't see much of her money from her job in LDID. It was a play on that aspect, twisted & given a perspective from Eric. Eric seeing what a shit state her driveway is in & wondering why his payment couldn't not only pay for a new drive but also her mortgage - makes the lightbulb go off in his head.

So he is calling Bill out on what he did with the money she was paid (Eric knowing it was more than she was actually given). That convo was Eric's way of figuring out what happened from what he already deduced & then antagonizing Bill for being such an idiot & ending with him being smug (his being affectionate w/sleeping Sookie & then ordering Bill around in the next breath).

So the overall scene is showcasing one more large bit of information about Bill which confirms Eric's instinct about him. Eric doesn't need to be overt, he knows what he knows & he knows Bill knows it as well & he doesn't have to even come out & say it. His line of questioning & actions speak for themselves - that Bill is a fool & has lost the plot & Eric..methodical Eric is going to come out the winner.

Hope that helps.

Hi!  Glad you were able to "unscrew" the site so I could read our epilogue.  I just adored your version of Club Dead!!

I hope you have other stories up your sleeve!  I love a well written fanfic!

Cheers!

Sorry --for some reason I can't get to your story.  I click on a chapter and it keeps sending me back to the "consent" screen.  I click on that and it gives me your story --but if I click on a chapter again, I get sent to the consent screen again --sigh...this is frustrating as I want to read the Epilogue....

Author's Response:

Hmmm.....I will try & figure this out.

hmm interesting back story....but that's the end?

Author's Response:

Yup. That's the Epilogue.

Serving as the conclusion by showing how it all started to begin with (before DUD) and how, by the beginning of the CD time frame -  Sophie-Anne felt about Bill, hence her setting him up to fail via Lorena.

I just love the new chapter!  yup, Bill --tuck that tail between your legs, because that's the last time Sookie will ever let you touch her again....

Pat

So --you have another chapter winding this up?  I know you've come to the end of the book --but maybe a chapter that is a "bridge" between Club Dead and Dead to the World????

Yes????

Are you going to tackle DTTW?

Would just love it!!

Pat

Author's Response:

Hey Pat! Thank you so much, so glad you are enjoying it! Yes we have an epilogue left to go.

We are not exactly tackling DTTW....we have something up our sleeve but it's a surprise & far more intricate b'c we are kind of combining a few of the books. It's taking a while b'c we are so busy & we write it all out in full so there are no continuity errors. We also write backwards in a way (the epilogue is written 1st) so we know how to plot out the rest of the story, even though we are following the events in the book.

Hopefully once we get rolling, it will take less time for it to all come together then this remix did- It took us ages! Thanks so much for your support!

I just LOVE your version of Club Dead --since we only get Sookie's PoV in the CH novels, it's refreshing to get it from the other characters.

I kinda just wished that Eric would have beaten up Bill for the rape in the trunk....he would have known what happened when he saw Sookie after ripping the trunk lid open....

Again....just a great job!!

Pat

Author's Response:

Thank you so much Pat! Yeah - we actually played with a bigger reaction from Eric toward Bill & ended up feeling it woulda' been too much of an OTT distraction considering Sookie was laying there dying. Maybe we should've elaborated on that when Eric shoved Bill, Bill went flying hard, far & fast into a concrete wall! He felt that. That's what happened in our heads at least ;) Hope you continure to enjoy the rest. Only 2 chapters left!

I remember this chappie from the books *sigh* I've always wondered why Eric would throw Alcide on Sookie. Was he so sure of himself, and thought Were's were so beneath him and really believed Sookie would never go for Alcide OR was he testing her to see how she'd handle herself?

*sobs* I wish I knew the ins and outs of Eric's thinking. Can't wait to see what comes next.

Author's Response:

Hey! Thanks so much for your reviews!

So to answer your question - 1st, Eric needed someone in Missipppi to care for Sookie during the day & house her. Alcide owes him big time & he is powerful enough so it was a pragmatic decison 1st and foremost. This is a part of Alcide working off his dad's debt.

But also yes - Eric is arrogant BUT..big but...we think he felt that Sookie would be too much of an emotional wreck to have to even worry about a sexual attraction between them.

Plus he knows Alcide - better than Sookie does that's for sure & not only does he knows that Alcide hates Vamps (as much as vamps look down on Were's & shifters) but he knows Alcide's predjudices down deep. He figured Alcide would look down on Sookie as a fangbanger (& his loss at that).

Also at this stage,  Eric doesn't yet quite realize that her character, once it's revealed, will be appealing to most as people get to know her. He is arrogant enough to believe it is only him that sees something special in her.

So it's no test. It's a mixture of how he thinks best to protect Sookie considering he can't be there during the day & he is not close enough to her yet - to realize her full effect on people.

Hope you like the rest!

LMAO - Eric the rebound man. Damn, why'd Eric have to grow a conscience at that moment? Can't wait to see what  happens next. Thanks for sharing!
