The deep breaths aren't really helping. Just Sayin. That was incredibly gut wrenching and I just can't believe Edward spent 7 years in prison for that (I mean I can, but I can't). Bella does need to think because of Peyton. As a single Mom, I don't care how much I liked someone, if he dropped a bomb like that on me, I'd have to do some thinking too. I just hope Edward realizes that Bella's tears mean that she's upset by what's happened to him, not disgusted.(At least that is what I think). Did Edward tell Emmett and Jasper while out the 3-days fishing (or is it lobstering?)?

There's not many stories that make me swallow to keep from choking up, but this chapter did. Geez!! I feel soo bad for Edward. My heart breaks for him.
Can you do a "split chapter"? Like, where Bella has part of the chapter and Edward has part of the chapter? I'm dieing to know what happens to him when he leaves Bella's house. I'm worried for him. I hope Carlisle backs him up and takes up for him in regards to Charlie and everyone else. That poor baby.

What IS wrong with Edward? My thoughts: (1) Seth mentions to Edward that Bella gets really scared and freaked out by storms and Edward panics, but then Seth tells him that Xav is there with her- which then makes Edward's panic worse. Edward is pissed and jealous that Bella didn't ask him to comfort her. OR (2) Edward finally told Emmett and Jasper the truth about his past and now that they know, Edward has his mind reeling and thinking that Bella is not going to take it well and say "bye bye"; so he braves the storm because he just has to see her and talk to her becuase he's about to lose his mind. Hmmm???

I've got to say I love your Edward. He's so very vulnerable with a tough protective shell. Very "James Dean-ish." His interaction with Peyton is beautiful.
I love the setting of your story. You write it so well that it's like I'm there on the coast of Maine. I keep sensing bits of The Perfect Storm (of course that was Gloucester, MA).
Really enjoying it. Every chapter peels a little more away in a good way. There's a beauty and gentleness to it all even though you know that these two characters are somehow consumed by past tragedies. Thanks for sharing it.
