Oh eddie. Well at least he seemed to sincerly appologize. But trying to buy her off. Ah well at least she is trying. She needs to tell him about Daddy's machincations before he tried to force her into something worse.

King Edward is sincerely apologetic and remorseful for his actions. The fact he tried to buy her affections and forgiveness is merely a misconception on his part that all women like goods that hold a high material value. Lord and Lady Swan will be dealt with in Chapter 11. Bella is still wary over who she can trust and she lacks the self confidence to be brave enough to speak out about her parents.

I think someone should let him know how Bella has been treated by her parents, the beatings etc. If he'd known how she'd been treated previously, I doubt he would have struck her. Although, geez...Isabella has quite the mouth on her, in those times it would be hard for someone not used to her to not stike out. Hell, I used to be slapped for less by my own mother and that was the 20th century.

King Edward struck her as he is unable to control his flaring temper. Even had he had the knowledge of her past, the king would still have gone out of control at Bella's words and struck her. As Emmett explained to King Edward, Bella doesn't express anger often, but when she does it is quite a magnificient display :P

It wasn't romantic, or sweet. It was as you said just to please the King and for him to have his wife for the first time. Although he did go back to check on her, or for round two perhaps. He also sent his mistress away. He is determined to only be with his wife from now on. That is good, not wonderful since he just cares about him, not her.
Renee's words were mean, cruel and not what would be expected of any mother. But as you said, it was another time and children's main purpose was to help their parents interests and ambitions.
My favorite kind of food for celebrations... probably seafood.

His returning to her was to check she was well. King Edward, as you will learn later, has always had a mistress even before he married Princess Tanya. He believes that Tanya's jelousy of the other women that shared his bed caused their problems in child-bearing. Yep, its a crock of shit but there were a lot of ideas back then on why women couldn't conceive and not one of them even suggested that it was because the man was infertile!
Lady Renee only feels hatred towards her daughter. She sees Bella as only a way for her to progress through the hierarchy in society. She has never been a mother to Bella, instead -for Bella - that role fell to Tanya.

Before I start my usual rant, just let me tell ya that I'm glad to hear that you survived the first week in the land of the Scots! =) You were absolutele spot on in your assumption regarding my last review that I wanted to know whether they wear knickers under their kilts, or not! =)
I'm not sure if I said it before, but I'm amazed by all work and effort you put into this story! It is obvious that you put a lot of time into research and coupled with the detailed love for the era, the end result is really fantastic! *takes imaginary hat off* Chapeau!
Alright, here we go....Though I do have a few things to say about His Royal Dickness, my main target for the trash-talking-rant that is about to start is none other than that pitiful waste of space that is Renee! I swear, she almost gave me an aneurism (don't you dare reminding me that is all just a piece of fiction, based on another piece of fiction, and therefore, I shouldn't get worked up like that due to what they do! I know that! They still piss me of, thank you very much! =P )! Seriously, what kind of person is she, giving her daughter the sex-talk-101 from hell?! OMG!!! I mean, what the fucking fuck was her problem! She got what she wanted- couldn't she at least pretend that her daughter wasn't some imbicilic, good-for-nothing eyesore she gave birth to, or better yet, ignore her completely? Jealous, hateful and wacky old hag! GAH! I think the sight-seeing tour to the Tower is way too good for her....
And I know that that was a different time and era (though i like to forget that little fact =P) and so were their habits, interpersonal association, manners, standards and customs, upbringing and beliefs. To us it seems outlandish and common sense tells us that this chauvinistic and abusive behaviour is wrong. Also, we all have this idea in our heads how we ant our fav characters to be and act, and if they don't, we get upset and scream 'riot'! =) Or at least worked up and upset. I guess that's why many readers mentioned the abuse of Bella by her parents and the dick-ish behaviour of his Royal Imbicile!
Speaking of the devil...King Edward really isn't the smartest cookie in the jar, or the brightest crayon in the box, or is he? First he goes all ram-bam-thank you ma'am on her, then all of a sudden--after he left her without so much as if it really was his wife he just humped and was already back in his own chambers--he suddenly wonders whether she actually had a good time! And when he checks on her, the fact that she was alive and breathing (which he could tell by merely glancing at her backside) he leaves her again all to herself, and then he walks around with a puffed out chest, utterly proud that he was so perceptive and sensitive to only have her once for the time being, since he just took her virginity! WTFF?! Gimme a break! That guy is killing me! And yeah, the caring moments and gentleness he showed her earlier, was really sweet! (He has his moments,I admit that! All is not lost...) but the stunt he pulled there in their wedding night...the least he could do was offering her another cup of imported cocoa! =) Another brownie point he gained when he turned down that tramp Stanley and her pathetic attempt at being seductive! Bravo for that, you Royal Asshat! *rolls eyes* Poor, poor Bella! I'm really glad she still had Emmett with her!
Alright, enough with the ranting here! I'm sure I forgot half the things I wanted to say here, but I promise the ranting will continue with the next update! =) As for your question...in general, it depends on what kind of party/gathering/celebration that is. Some kind of dessert like brownies or cake would fit all three =) But mostly, like at all the parties and gatherings my friends and me had, the best food would be everything everyone can help themself with, all kinds of salads, bread and dips, and some meat, mostly hot dogs or bratwurst. But the food is always secondary, it's more about the drinking...(seriously, could I be any more German????) Damn!

Excuse my rudimentary German. I've studied it for six years and still shit at it :P In regards to your review what can I say? I received four new bruises on my legs after falling off my chair and landing on the floor because I was laughing so hard. Then it resulted in me just lying there as I was unable to breathe or move! Absolutely loved your review! Its reviews like yours that make it worthwhile doing the research and writing for your entertainment (and my own when I read your response!)
In regards to the kilt thing...there is a kilt shop in the little town I'm at and it sells the full regalia. What the shop doesn't sell is boxers! ;)
Feel free to rant furiously about my characters. Its enjoyable for me to read (whilst eating chocolate) and the main reason for why I write some of the things that occur. I want to get a response from my readers and yours is always superb! I am completely understanding of the fact that these characters will really piss you off. In other fanfics and proper books I find myself becoming infuriated with certain characters and screaming at them through my Netbook...not great first impression for my flatmates for them to hear me scream "Would you grab her and fuck her on the desk already?!" *innocent face*
Lady Renee feels only hatred towards her daughter. She cares and loves her sons but because of Bella's gender she looks down upon her and only thinks of what Bella can do for her. But even that is not enough. She is a jealous, sadistic harpy who enjoys inflicting physical, emotional and psychological pain on her daughter. When she receives her just desserts have no fear it will result in much more than just a sight-seeing tour to the Tower of London! *grins as own sadistic mind provides images of what I plan to do*
King Edward really does have a lot of growing up and learning to do. Thank you for picking up on how he left her a second time! *coughs* kinda important for next chapter *coughs* He's an arrogant motherfucker and as proud as a peacock, showing off that he's all that when he really isn't. I think the small glimpses I plan on giving of King Edward's kind nature are really gonna frustrate you *giggles* I loved your sarcasm about the king turning down Lady Stanley! Emmett will be helpful and important for both Bella and the king.
Again please do continue with your awesome rants; I love reading them! Dessert is definitely the best course there is :D And, hon, I'm from Northern Ireland the drinking is the rimary part of parties there too XD

That was so aweful. Atleast my first time, my partner who was experienced just like Edward in this story made sure that I received pleasure before he took his own. I am Anglican which is the religon of England that Edward is plotting to form. If you are fashioning this story after Henry VIII, he had many many women that he slept with. I have done much research into Henry, and from everything I have read, Henry was not stingy in bed.

I think the harshness of Renee, when you think about it Isabella has no choice in this if you pamper her she will be more imbolden to rebell. So perhaps this was partly necessary. The comment about being filthy was unnecessary and mean, especially coming from a mother to her child.
Bella needed Tanya to speak to her. Encourage her. She has a loveless marriage. Perhaps they can grow to love one another. If Edward is capable of love.

They will receive their comeuppance, but I would like to state that in the Tudor era what occurred within this chapter would not have been considered abuse, rather it would have been seen as correcting unruly behaviour for a lady to exhibit. However all this will not become known until a later chapter.

Who could have ever imagine that a couple of dogs could cause such a situation. First one going after the other, I guess Zara wasn't happy with Bella enjoying the company of another dog. Then having to punish someone so harshly because of it. It was a bit over the top and in the King's plans to get Bella, it probably worked in the wrong direction. I wonder how will Bella act now she is not only alone but has become numb and lost interest.

Zara is based off of my own dog. She gets quite territorital of our house, garden and me. She is brilliant with people but any other animal (that includes horses, cows, pigs, sheep, cats, birds, dogs, donkeys and goats) she tries to go for The harsh punishments is true to the era. For small crimes that people would get community service for nowadays, would have resulted in them being locked up in the stocks. Bella will never forget that it was by the king's order that Eva was punished so harshly. King Edward did not take into consideration that it would affect how Bella sees him as a person and as her king.

Bella just wanted to go through life in peace and unnoticed, going with the Queen seemed like an ideal escape for her. Sadly it won't be. The Queen knows that a girl such as her shouldn't go and hide in an Abby. Bella didn't agree, but being the kind soul she is, she is obeying her Queen.
Later with her parents she was well aware of their intentions and was hoping to not be noticed once more. That wasn't the case, even her beloved big brother worked on the plan of the King noticing her. The Queen is wise and realizes Bella is the best choice to take her place. So she tells her what she expects of Bella. Bella wasn't happy but she did realize what is most probably going to happen.
I know Tanya has to leave the palace, but could it be that she might be kind of a guidance figure to Bella? Possibly by letters. Bella needs someone with the Queen's knowledge.
Sorry I didn't answer the previous question, as to this one.... I guess it depends on the situation and the place. I have done both ;)

Lady Renee is all about image and she feels that Bella has always brought the image of the Swans down. If she feels Bella is threatening what Lady Renee thinks is the most important thing at court then she will lash out. Both Lord and Lady Swan will receive their comeuppance, but not until a later chapter. King Edward will also learn of the trials Bella faced throughout her childhood in a later chapter. Emmett tends to hide in the corner, so to speak, so as he can do more behind the scenes for his sister. He hides who he truly is from his family and the rest of the court. Only Bella, Rosalie and his children know the true Emmett and what a lovable man he is.

I did want to show the true family dynamic that has always been kept from the sight of the rest of the court. Bella's place within her family is just above that of their servants. As for the chapter...fuck me sideways- do I want to punch Chrales and Renee or what?! They are both just awful! It was clear from the beginning that Bella doesn't hold a big place in their hearts *snorts*; but abusing her?! Oh Sue! You always have me cracking up at your reviews. *wipes tears from eyes* I think this was one of the best reviews I've received so far for all my stories :P You've read my previous Twi stories, you know I like giving Bella a pretty shitty home life. However in those days it wasn't seen as abuse (probably should have shoved that in the a/n to remind people). Lord and Lady Swan will get what's coming to them and King Edward will learn of their behaviour...later on.
Lots of people had an unsure opinion of Emmett. Emmett is kinda in between a rock and hard place. He's got a wife and two children to support. Until he gets the Viscount title he relies on dear ole Dad to help make sure that they can remain living and not be poverty stricken. Emmett has no titles until his father passes, which is why I had King Edward be nice and award him with one. In regards to the maltreatment? Yes there will be some. The king is an asshole and only thinks about himself. He allows others to goad him and it will have a negative result on Bella.
I did warn you that the ass in him couldn't stay put for too long. It needs to be seen and heard and fussed over. He really isn't all that suave with the ladies due to his ability to just click his fingers and have whomever he pleased placed on a figurative silver platter for him. He has a huge ego but most men, let alone kings, during those times did. King Edward may start to seem a bit bipolar. He'll be switching between the asshole and the Edward we got a glimpse of when he was talking with Sir Jasper in chapter 4.
In regards to Scotland, yes I am going there to study as it costs half the price. It all depends on the man really as to whether they don't wear underwear under their kilts (I'm guessing that is what you meant by the check how Scottish the Scots truly are). I've had a number of Scottish friends...strangely all male. Some of them do the 'hang it all out' and others don't. It tends to be a bit chilly for most so nowadays I'm afraid to disappoint and say most wear some form of underwear.
Thanks for telling me not to worry about the updating schedule. I know real life is more important but I feel bad leaving people with my story seeing as I've been in that situation myself. Everyone so far seems to be understanding about it and are fine with the waiting period.

Oh, I love hot chocolate on a cold and nasty winter's day! I'm not talking about beautifully, with fresh snow covered streets and trees here (though that works perfectly fine as well^^), but about cold, dark, stormy and wet days, were you really don't want to leave the snuggly confines of your bed! (Unfortunately, that's how my Winter's look most of the time where I come from here in Germany! The last couple of years we did get a lot of snow, but rather late- most of the time it's like described above :( Anyway, I love my hot chocolate, but no whipped cream added on top for me! Now first off, yes King Assward did something sweet but of course had to be a dick and mention the whole exporting thing. I wanted to see how many people would catch on to that. For our dear Bella that won't be the impressive thing. What would be the impressive thing is giving her the chance to learn about life and other delicacies. I loved your sarcasm! :D Don't worry he'll be back to his 'normal' kingly self soon enough, no need to fetch Carlisle ;)
Sir Jasper definitely deserved a high five for that astute performance in the study lol I wanted mostly to portray the other side of King Edward in this chapter, show a glimpse of what he is behind the king. Of course he won't show this side very often because that just wouldn't be proper. They're also best of friends as well as brothers through marriage. I felt they should have a close camaderie where they know it is just the two of them and they can both just shove the pressures and duties of their titles away, leaving them as just Jasper and Edward.
No His Royal Denseness did not catch Bella's implication of being wanted for more than just looks. He was being sweet with his words to her, but notice he said she should stand up to her mother, not her father. No male was mentioned. He is fine with her having thoughts and speaking freely of them with courage...but only amongst those of her own sex. Feel free to call him out all the more for being a dick. He is one. Lady Renee will just be so delighted by the news that she is to be the mother of the Queen of England; 'cause you know she doesn't care its her daughter becoming Queen of England, but rather the titles that will award her as her mother. The Stanley's will be deeply dissatisfied by this outcome and are definitely ones to keep both your eyes on. Unfortunately they are sneaky and no one suspects that they would stoop as low as to gain revenge for Lady Isabella stealing the crown from their daughter.
I'm sorry I made you crave chocolate. If it helps when I was researching the Tudor foods I made myself extremely peckish! I know the types of winter days you mean for the hot chocolate as it is only in recent years we've actually had the 'pretty fresh snow'. Here in Northern Ireland it tends to rain, ice, rain, more ice, hailstones, fog, rain. That's our winter. Not very nice to be out in at all. I prefer mine made from milk chocolate and served with squirty/whipping cream. Nom nom nom.
In regards to your question to me: here in Northern Ireland we have very few hot summer's days, let alone really hot summer's days lol However when the sun does break through the clouds and we get a bit of blue in the sky I do like to drink an iced concoction I created myself. It's simply Coca-Cola with Apple and Blackcurrant Juice Cordial. It makes it extra sweet. I usually would do 1 part cordial to 4 parts coke but that's because I have an immense sweet tooth :P Sometimes I'll stick ice cubes in it, but usually they aren't needed here XD

Yes Bella can do nothing about her situation, but will still react badly. I also wanted to prove that there is more to King Edward than what has been seen so far.
If you can get soft cheese for the cheesecake you don't need the cream. I have a really bad sugar tooth so I need mine really sweet lol

Yes I like dogs I can't tell you my favorite breed, cause I only have had 3 dogs my entire life and I loved all 3 of them. Sheba my 1st dog was a Basset House/Beagle mix had her growning up, my next 2 dogs have only been in my life for the last 16 years...these Missy a miniture Doxie and then there was tucker he was a Rhodesian ridgeback/Pitt Bull mix I had to put him down 6 months ago at the age of 16 years old....Sorry if I have gone on about my dogs, but I love to talk about them.

your question - I love dogs, particular to larger breeeds. My husband is not a dog lover, so in comprimise we have been together 18 years, the first 14 nodog, theni found this little dog and fell in love with it, but it is a pain, it is bi-polar, cute as anything, but even the vet has to knock it out to examine it and for groooming. The story is very interesting, bella and tanya friends? not sure what to make of that. i am interested to see where this story goes.

Aaah, quite the bunch of men we have here. Feeling their manliness threatened by a dog...sounds like something real men would do...*eyeroll* Pardom my German, but scheiße! It's not that I expected Edward to do a whole 180 and get all lovey-dovey-eyed sap within a matter of days after acknowledging Bella, but I didn't think he'd shit a brick over his dog getting bitten! (Yes, I know: pets become dear to us and we consider them friends or part of the family easily- especially dogs) but seriously...! What a terriorial, possesive jerk! And then, he lets himself getting manipulated by James- just because the latter basically accused him of having a really small dick... (Again, I know that saying stuff like that to a man is even worse than insulting his momma...but seriously!) Ungh...men! Does he really thik that's the way into Bella's heart? What a royal fool! =)
Don't let my ranting think I didn't enjoy the chapter- I did! A bit sad,yes, but good! I feel for Bella. Obviously she cannot expect any kind of comfort or attention from her mother or father and I have yet to decide where Emmet stands here! Anyway, looking forward to the next chapter! =) Well done!
As for the question: I do love dogs! Though I have to admit that I'm not too big a fan of those teeny tiny ones whose eye balls are almost as big as their heads and resemble an overgrown rat more than a dog! ^^ If it doesn't at least reach my ankle, its not a dog! (to me anyways!) I like the bigger ones better- especially Australian Shepherds and Alaskan Malamutes <3<3! I'd die to have one (or both^^) of them my own but at the mom that's just not possible!

*hugs* Thanks so much for cheering me up today with your review. I love when my readers start ranting. I want them to be frustrated with the characters. King Edward is simply a wanker who has his head shoved up his Royal ass so far that he cannot see past titles and looks. He doesn't want to get into Bella's heart (yet), merely her bed and have her as his new queen. I also thought I could use the attack on King Edward's dog to show not only the cruel punishments inflicted in Tudor times, but also how the lower classes tended to suffer for things that were not truly their fault.
I'm so glad that although it was quite sad you did enjoy it. Emmett's alliance is first and foremost with his family duty but you will see that he can be a caring and compassionate oaf in an upcoming chapter when Bella truly needs some form of comfort. Her mother and father care not for her feelings, merely the titles that she can bring to them should she have such an advantageous marriage.
I was really giggling at your opinion (which is the same as mine) in regards to the overgrown rats, sorry I meant small dogs *coughs* yappy wee fuckers :P Bigger dogs are much better. I had to Google both your breeds of dogs. The Australian Shepherds look a bit like a Collie and the Alaskan Malamute like a Husky; both of which are exceptionally cute! :D

Edward as Henry VIII? Good idea, I just hope your "Anne" does not meet the same end as the real one ;)

No my 'Anne' will not meet the same end as Anne Boleyn. This story will not, though, be a portrayal of Henry VIII. It is merely set in those times.
I understand that my chapters could be longer however as I write all these chapters in a couple of hours, I find it harder to write longer chapters in which it doesn't trail off and become a bit of a bore to read towards the end. Each chapter so far has been increasing in length by at least a couple of hundred words. I will try to write longer chapters but am unlikely to go above 5k words.
