Jasper should have kept to his word and stayed at the house, then he wouldn't be lying on the ground with a giant wolf's paw on his neck.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

Jasper is a strategist and Alice's mate. He does not ever go into situations blind. But yes he bit off more than he could chew this time.

It makes so much more sense to have the tribe be aware of the pack and even the Cold Ones. At least Amelia is going to marry Ephraim and knows all about him. I thought it was kind of funny that Edward enjoyed teaching. He has always needed something to do to occupy the endless time he has on his hands.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

The tribe needs to know as the Cullens' refusal to leave means that more wolves may start to phase. And the existing ones aren't ageing.

Hopefully the council will accept the pack's recommendation and let the tribe know about the shifters in their midst. Sure would make their lives easier. Now to see what Amelia has decided.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

Poor Amelia. Not something about your husband-to-be that you would expect to or want to find out.

I really like that Carlisle is insisting on Edward helping out in the war effort. As he said, they are Americans first and vampires second. Ephraim's solution to Amelia's troubles was a pretty good one also. It will help her and her kids and give Bill a mother, and Ephraim a wife.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

Yes Edward has to do his bit lol. And Ephraim has put two families back together into one. He cares for Amelia, but she is not his great love. I have been informed by some Native American readers that this chapter is very true to things that happened in their own families, which is gratifying.

Carlisle's attitude towards the wolves is understandable. Even when they do their best to help, even killing their own kind to protect the Quileutes, the hatred never ends. Sort of a damned if you do and damned if you don't, deal.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

Some wolves are more open minded than others. But when all is said and done they are enemies, and the wolves have no choice in their inheritance.

It was pure luck that they found Ephraim as soon as they did. Good thing they had Carlisle along to tend to wounds and dehydration, too. Quil did the right thing, getting his Alpha angry, some kind of emotion is better than none.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

Yes, he really wanted to die, not an Alpha at all at this juncture.

Poor Martha, and poor Ephraim! Losing the twins was bad enough but to lose his love was awful! No wonder he howled out his misery. It must have eaten at him that Carlisle said he could have saved them if he had been involved sooner.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

Pride is an awful thing...he has paid dearly for it.

Ephraim feels he was snookered by Carlisle over the treaty. He thought they would have to leave the area in a short time, removing the impetus for the shape-shifting gene to activate. No such luck, evidently. He'll just have to hope his son won't be forced to phase by the vampire's proximity.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

Carlisle was less than forthcoming at the treaty signing. He didn't lie, just didn't reveal all. It's what happens when a 21 year old wolf negotiates with a 300 year old vampire.

That didn't take ant time at all! Now that Ephraim has his little bride, I wonder what she thinks of her new husband's secret?

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

Traditional Quileute marriage methods were as quick as that, if not quicker. I was fascinated by that and used it in the story...

Carlisle is determined to hang around Forks, so much so he's about ready to let guess what he and his family really are! I find that a bit surprising, and dangerous for them. What if the Volturi get wind of it?

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

The Volturi in canon pay no attention to the Cullens until Edward throws himself at them. But in the story the locals "know but don't know". It's a folk wisdom, actual knowledge is suppressed by dazzling and other means, meaning there is nothing to see in their minds.

Carlisle really wants to stay around Forks for a while and not have to pull up stakes and move. Can't say I blame him much for wanting to settle down.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

The idea of that intrigued me, since the logistics of all those moves and new identities in an era before the internet would have been a pain in the neck. Far better to settle and have friends in high places and/or methods to control your environment.

It would seem Ephraim Black has imprinted on Bella Swan, and she is having dreams about him. It looks like she's also seen the Cullens, and Paul is her bodyguard. Most interesting!

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

Yes he has, and yes she has seen something that frightens her. Paul is a man on a mission.

Thus was the treaty between the Cullens and the Quileutes drawn up and signed! Hostility and suspicion right from the start, if I'm reading this correctly. Guess it can't be helped, considering what they all are!

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

They are natural enemies, and this is a different Carlisle...

Already I'm intrigued! What's the grudge Ephraim has against Carlisle?

Author's Response:

70 years as Alpha; he's tired.

I will be so glad when you go forward 50 years..

Author's Response:

I am not "going forward 50 years". I am telling a story. What you are reading now IS the story; the story of what happens when the Cullens never leave Forks. Between now and then there will be other developments such as the births of Charlie and Bella, and when all of the story that needs to be told prior to 2005 HAS been told, then and ONLY then will I return to that time. To do otherwise would turn my story into a laughing stock, since you can't write about characters who in the story have not been born.

Thanks for the review.

I know Bella is not alive yet and neither is Charlie. so we wait

Author's Response:

Nobody's forcing you to read it. Either you get that I am writing about the RELATIONSHIP between the wolfpack and the Cullens over time, and that Bella is where things will unravel, or you don't.

Can't wait for more please update ASAFP. When are you going to get to get to the present?

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review :)

The scenes and chapters are all planned, but as I write things take more or less time to tell. Bear in mind that as a historical fic, things have to happen in order. So wolves have to start phasing, and people have to be born and also die. Billy Black hasn't been born as yet and neither has Charlie, let alone their children. But there will be time skips,as there was in this chapter.

The journey is as important as the destination.

Love it! This is the type of story that sucks you in and you read and read and read until you don't realise how much time has passed. I can't wait for future chapters. :)

Well old Ephram gets around. I guess living a long time as a wolf he keeps on marrying these women. So why in the HELL would Bella want him instead of Edward. She would just be one of his many instead of his only.   For me I would choose the only one.  Not one do be added to a list.

Author's Response:

There is no list. Bella will be Ephraim's third wife, as Taha Aki had a third wife, who saved the tribe. That choice is deliberate.

But since Ephraim at this point has no idea how long he will be forced to live, or even who Bella is (her father has not even been born yet), don't you think you're being a bit unfair?

Bella will meet Edward, but that is all. Ephraim has imprinted on her, she is his and he is hers.

He let his fear and prejudice keep Martha from getting help. Now they all pay the price.

Author's Response:

The wolf/vampire relationship is not an easy one, and yes he did let it affect his judgement. He will be wiser now.
