Hi, when I first started reading this story I enjoyed it so much because it is nice and not so filled with horrible angst, constant misunderstandings, etc. I do like that sometimes, but sometimes you just need a beautiful story. And this is. But I do have to say, this chapter, not so on par with the rest. It was like you were sprinting to the finish line. You covered way too many scenes, and skipped right over way to many intimate moments with just a sort of quick, "we made love". On several occassions. Sometimes that works into the story to make time pass, but it would have made more sense if there was something significant that happened in the chapter, or a cliffie. It just seemed like filler, not really fun to read. I hope you take this as honest an not meant to be mean at all. The story has been one of my favorites since I discovered it, it is just this chapter. Thanks for writing it.

Thank you for the honest feedback. Sorry if you felt this was a filler chapter. It was somewhat of a race, but more like a race that you don't want to win, cause neither of them wanted the time to come, and it just got faster and faster the closer they got to their separation. I hope that makes sense.

Loved the chapter, just found your story and I'm up late hating the fact that I really need to stop and go to bed. The one thing that is irritating me the most about this chapter is that Bella should have called Edward on 'forgetting" her on the porch. I know in your note you explained his reaction, but either she should have stayed out there, or interrupted an said excuse me can I come in. All of them, Edward, Karen, and her sister should have had to acknowlage what asses they were (intentional or not it was rude). And then it would have been fine when they apologized and included her in the conversation. I'm pissed that he criticized Bella for not speaking and yet never acknowledged that he never even introduced her or knew if she was there. I can't get over that infractions even more than being pissed at the shittiness of Mary and Jason.

Welcome aboard!! So glad you found WTB. I've been on both sides of the porch issue so I know where both E and B are coming from. Especially E since it never occured to him B would be intimidated in the least. He's never seen that side of her before. And as stupid and manly of him as it was, when she got mad, he got mad. But that's the way things sometimes go when the relationship is new and the two are learning about each other. The good thing is that they didn't let it fester between them for long.

OMG, you have GOT to tell me that EMMET is going to BURN in HELL for this. Really. I don't care that he says he did it because he LOVES Edward. that is a crock of sh%##. period. Please make sure Edward finds out exactly what and when Emmet said everything to Bella. Both the what and when are important, not a watered down version. And it is unforgivable...and now Emmet is acting like he loves Edward and talking like ....if you do get back with Bella.....and then .....she left you man, she walked out on you. Want a decietful, horrible son of a bi$%h. Edward has to find out everything and Emmet needs to get it. If Edward were every to forgive it would need to be several years down the road, and even then, forgive but never trust him again. I think Emmet doesn't want Edward happy, those reasons he threw at Bella that she caused all this were the biggest crap I've every even dreamed of. He was mean and hateful not just to Bella but to Edward too.

Well I still have trouble understanding Bella' reaction to the point I'm just rolling my eyes at her inner dialogue. He didn't lie about being with another woman. He didn't lie about doing something mean to her. He didn't tell here about is illness because he didn't want her to worry and was afraid she'd leave him. Her insessant rambling that expands it to not being able to trust anything he ever has or ever will say just seems incredible way way way blown out of proportion for anyone. That is just my opinion.

Really fantastic. Sometimes when the story gets into what is seen as a tangent, it can be boring and make me want to skim or skip over. However, this wasn't the case in this chapter. The writing and story were line intense and interesting and helped in understanding Bella while you kept Edward/Bella in the midst of all the goings on. That helped make it bearable to get throught that whole chapter and still feel we got our E/B fix. Thanks os much for this story, it is on the top of my list of best Fan Fics...

I'm still pissed at Edward and now pissed at Bella for "forgiving" his asshole actions.
Bella would not have let Alice leave without telling Edward, she was treating her friend with a smigin of common respect to allow her to tell Jasper first.
I'm certainly pissed with Jasper for 'beating' Alice because of his own baby tantrum of not seeng what he should have seen over a period of years. He's an asshole too.
It bugs the shit out of me that those two guys get to act any way they want with no repercussions, they dole out all this baby assed punishment and on top of that they were the cruelest of cruel and they are forgiven....no consequences whatsoever. As much as Bell may love him, sometimes you have to consider if you can deal with the person's faults forever. And this would take a LOT for me to get over especially while both Edward and Jasper still think they owe them somekind of punishment. REally pissed off, can you tell?

OUTTAKE – CONVERSATION BETWEEN JASPER AND ALICE
“Guys, I’ve got to go – Jazz please give this some serious thought and Alice, you need to stop being so fucking stubborn. I love you, Squirt!”
Edward almost crushed her in a hug. He slapped Jasper on the shoulder as he ran out the door.
“So… you talk about the size of my schlong?” Jasper said.
Alice looked up at him with mounting excitement, “Well, it’s quite impressive…” she said huskily.
Jasper smiled at her. “Can we talk? I mean really talk; I’ve missed you Tink…”
Alice smiled through her tears. “I’ve missed you too Jazzy….”
Jasper looked uncomfortable for a moment and it bothered Alice. She was used to Jasper Whitlock being decisive and in control. Seeing him looking ill at ease was new. There had been many disagreements in the Whitlock/Cullen home since Alice had moved in with Jasper two year before.
She had never lived alone, besides when she had gone to college and even then, she had attended Berkley, so that she was close to her family and Jasper.
Although over the years, they had learned to deal with Jasper’s travelling for work and Alice’s part time job as Edward’s PA which had taken her away from time to time, through everything, including Alice’s training as a submissive, their lines of communication had always been open and honest.
Alice had grown up in a house hold that was opinionated and not scared of voicing their points of view. Esme and Carlisle had encouraged their children to have their own opinions and to share them. They had also taught them to stick to their guns.
This was one of the many things that had attracted Jasper to Alice in the first place. Although she was much younger than him when they met; he had always found Alice to be interesting to talk to and inevitably to argue with. She was a spirited and enthusiastic young woman, with a warmth and energy that seemed to draw him in from the first moment.
Jasper on the other hand had grown up in a large family with two parents that had stuck together over the years because there was no other alternative for either one of them. They were hardened by life, worn down by reality and for a reason that Jasper had never been able to fathom; they had decided to have three children of which Jasper was the youngest. Eventually Jasper’s father had strayed and a few years later, when Jasper was about twelve, he had suddenly come back to the trailer park where they lived with three small children in tow!
He had told Jasper’s mother that they were his dead sister’s kids, but after awhile he had confessed that they were his. Jasper felt sorry for the three youngest children and when he had begun to make money from modeling and small acting jobs, he had made a decision to see that they would have an opportunity to further their education, go to college and make a proper life for themselves. Although none of the children were really close or affectionate with each other, Jasper had stuck to his word and the three younger children had gone on to college.
Jasper couldn’t believe that Ricky, the youngest of his stepsiblings had taken advantage of Jasper’s generosity the way that he had! Jasper had never asked for any compensation or payment for the money that he had given to his siblings or parents over the years; the only stipulation he had for continuing to support his mother and father was that the house that he had purchased for them remain in his mother’s name. Jasper was not close to his father and the distance had only grown when the man had abandoned his young family, leaving his wife to work three jobs to feed and clothe their three children.
Jasper had always thought that he would never find anyone to settle down with. He didn’t ever want the life that his parents had; tired, sad, disillusioned and settling for something because there was no time or money for dreams of something or someone else. Someone better.
So the first step that Jasper had taken at the age of sixteen was to have himself emancipated. He had tried to live in Los Angeles and he had hated every moment of it but as he begun earning good money, he decided to take classes at the local community college. The first one was on finances. Jasper wanted to know how to look after his money and how to make it grow.
He trusted few people and although people liked his quiet charm and whit; Jasper had a way of standing to one side and observing people that he found made him a good judge of character. Jasper had come to rely on that instinct over the years.
It was an instinct that he could no longer rely on. He had never thought for a million years that his younger brother would ever turn out to be the low life, perverted bastard that he was! Every time Jasper thought of what Ricky had done, how Richard had betrayed his own brother by lusting, perving, salivating over his Alice! His Alice! Jasper wanted to kill Rick with a cold fury that he had never felt before.
How he had touched her, fucking forced himself on her when Jasper had been careless enough to leave her alone with him… FUCK!
Alice gasped as Jasper jumped to his feet. His face was a cold, furious mask.
“Jasper please! If you want to talk to me, then you need to calm the fuck down! I can’t reach you when you are like this! If you are angry with me then just say so and let’s get it out there! If you think that I did anything to encourage your brother…” Alice cringed away as Jasper was suddenly in front of her with his hand clasped over her lips.
“Never – NEVER, EVER call that fucking piece of low down shit my brother! I will kill him if I ever see him anywhere near you again!” Jasper spat out as he held her.
Alice whimpered and she closed her eyes. “Jazzy, you are scaring me…”
This wild man wasn’t her Jasper…
Alice felt the tears running down her cheeks and over Jasper’s fingers.
Suddenly she was free.
Alice pushed a fist into her mouth to keep the sobs as quiet as she could. Her whole body was trembling.
“Alice… sweet Jesus, I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to scare you… Ali…” Jasper choked out as he sat crouched clear across the room from where Alice sat.
Alice could see the anguish clearly on Jasper’s face and she felt even worse than she had in the past few days.
This was all her fault!
“Come to me…” Alice said, but Jasper just shook his head.
Alice slid off the sofa onto her knees and she crawled slowly across to where Jasper had slumped down against the wall.
Jasper could feel the intensity of Alice’s gaze as he watched her moving slowly towards him.
“Ali…” he said in a half pleading, half warning.
“No. You’ve spoken and now it is my turn…” Alice said when she was inches away from his face.
Her eyes searched his intensely. The remorse and sorrow that Alice saw gave her the courage to move closer until her lips met his.
Jasper’s head jerked backwards, but with nowhere to go, he hit the wall.
He cursed and rubbed his head.
Alice grinned at him, “Maybe that’ll knock some sense into your thick skull!” She quipped as she arranged herself between his outstretched legs; her thighs straddled his open ones so that he could feel her heated core through her jeans.
Jasper shut his eyes tightly and moaned as he tried to adjust himself. Alice giggled and winked at him.
“We can get to that later, but first let’s please resolve this ‘thing’ once and for all!” She said with determination.
“Gladly, Darlin’.”
“Okay, I’m going first. I need to tell you why I didn’t tell you about… what was happening in the first place, but you cannot freak out on me! Do you promise?”
Jasper could see how anxious Alice was and once again he was filled with remorse at his earlier behavior.
“I promise.”
Alice took a deep breath, “I know that this might sound crazy to you, but when it happened the first time; I tried to just shrug it off. I thought that perhaps I had imagined it or misread his signals in some way. The next time it happened, your… well your father was in the room. He, Rick grabbed my ass as I walked passed him. I turned around as saw them looking at each other and Rick just winked at me and they burst out laughing… Jasper… you promised…” Alice broke off as she watched Jasper’s eyes become dark and wild again.
Jasper felt as if he was ready to explode! That no good, low fucking, good for nothing… BASTARD! I. will. Kill. Him.
Jasper felt Alice’s tiny hand stroking his cheek and he refocused on her anxious face.
He kissed her quickly, “I’m okay, Ali, I promise. I won’t freak out on you again.”
Alice nodded slowly, “He apologized to me later – your father, I mean. The next day he told me that he had too much to drink and that he had made Rick promise never to touch me again. He begged me not to tell you and then he said that… some girls just have an ‘air’ about them…”
SON OF A BITCH!
Jasper opened his mouth to speak but Alice put her fingers over his lips.
She continued. “I know better than that, Jazz! I know better! I was raised to know better than that! With all their bullshitting and nonsense, my brothers have never, ever treated any woman including me with anything than the utmost respect. You have never treated me like a whore, but at that moment, I felt dirty. And I felt like a two bit whore, who didn’t deserve anything better. Rick kept touching me, stupid little insignificant ‘slip-ups’. Every time he was around me, sometimes you were in the next room or you had your back to us… He would graze my breasts by pushing past me in a doorway, or he would rub himself against me if he were standing behind us…” Alice shuddered in revulsion and Jasper couldn’t take it any longer.
His arms wrapped Alice in a vice like grip. “Never, never, never…” He said over and over again against her neck as he pulled her closer.
“Jazz…”
“No – it’s my turn now… never, ever again, Mary Alice Cullen. Promise me that you will never let anyone ever make you feel like that again. Especially not me! God, Ali, I love you so much! Just the thought of another man touching you… Fuck! It’s too much to even contemplate! Do you know how I felt when I found out that Rick was… forcing himself on you? When we forced Bella to tell us and we did force her – she didn’t have a choice really, I wanted to fucking kill someone there and then! As you know, I sat up all night just thinking about what could have happened to you! And about how I was going to take care of you this time! I couldn’t help you last time, Darlin’. I wasn’t able to stop that animal putting his hands on you… but I was going to make sure that Rick never ever touched you again.”
Alice brushed the tears of Jaspers cheeks.
“I love you so fucking much, Mary Alice Cullen-Whitlock. You own me mind, body and soul. If I lost you, my life would be so empty… please forgive me for hurting you and dragging this shit out. Please, please don’t ever put me through this again, Tink, my heart can’t stand it.” Jasper whispered as they held each other’s faces and gazed with longing into each other’s eyes.
“I love you, Cowboy; you are my everything… my lover, my best friend, my Dom, my love. I am sorry too. No more secrets.”
Their kiss was a relief. For the first time in almost two weeks, their lips were soft and forgiving. Lips touched, brushed, nibbled. Tongues dueled and teased. Eventually they couldn’t take it any longer and Jasper held Alice to him as he tipped her onto the floor and loomed over her, his knees pushing her thighs apart.
Alice panted into his mouth. “Can I get my clothes back?”
Jasper smiled against her lips, “yeah, especially the underwear…”
Alice giggled, “can I get my car back?”
Jasper shook his head, “sorry, you will be driven around for a while…”
Alice groaned, “but I can see my Bestie?”
Jasper rocked back on his knees as he looked at the bright twinkle in Alice’s eyes. “Mary Alice…” He said with narrowed eyes.
Fuck! He is so sexy when he does that… now I need to change my panties! Damn Cowboy!
“Hmmm… take me upstairs Jazz… I’ve missed you…” Alice uttered the magic words.

I think you handled that "outside interference or distraction" well. You are right, that is real life. I've always been of the opinion that althought their might be soul mates, most of us don't meet ours necessarily. But when you agree to marriage, you are making a choice and a promise A commitment to stop looking, if you will. It doesn't mean that there won't be others you find attractive or that you could be happy with. But you agreed to spend you life with that person and not look around anymore. That requires you try hard to avoid temptation when you have the ability to avoid it....and to resist it when it is presented. We are not perfect and niether are our partners...so we can screw up and so can they. There are always consequences, some are mild and some devastating, but again, that is life. You try to learn and avoid making the same mistakes. This is one of the cream of the crop stories out there in the world of Fan Fiction. Thanks for all your effort and especially for you quite regular updates. It helps readers "stay in the game" when the time between chapters is reasonable....some people go months and even a year between updates....I know their life comes first, I'm not trying to be critical of them but it makes me so greatful for what you've accomplshed with updates. In those other stories I have sometimes forgotten the whole plot and have to re-read several chapters to get back up to speed. It really makes them much less enjoyable. Hope your real life is treating you well. Thanks so much for this particular story...I'm dreading it's end as it is a sweet escape now and then.

It is so hard to read these chapters anymore. I have never experienced blind anger but the Bella in this story actually makes me so upset my stomach hurts. And it is just a story Clearly excellent writing on your part evoking all this strong emotion. I feel weary of her. I don't understand why she suddenly questioned that she might be wrong about Edward now. Just finding out he wrote the letters doesn't seem like it would be able to make her listen when she has refused to do anything but think he is a h00r and no one could convince her otherwise. I don't see why she just didn't keep thinking he was just trying to get in her pants. It might have made sense for anyone else but her since she has been so very hateful about the facts she thinks she knows. Just because he wrote love notes all those girls she knew be was with suddenly might not be true? I clearly don't trust her as far as I could throw her. I would think Edward would be wary of someone who could be so hateful to anyone especially without cause. Now I'm rambling. I'm tellin you. Your story just gets my feathers all ruffled!

I really hope you give Bella a chance here. She's still a kid who let her emotions get in the way of common sense. Should she have let Edward explain sooner...yes. Should she have listened to her friends...yes. Should she have listened to Jake...hell no. But they were mistakes that she wants the chance to fix. Bella may not have liked who she thought he was, but she was really falling for the boy who wrote the letters. I'm not going to say one conversation with them is all it's going to take and they'll be magically in love, life doesn't work that way. It's going to take a lot of work on both their parts to be able to get past a year's worth of lies, anger and pain but they'll work on it together. Thanks for the review. Edward's voice came through the door again and I stopped, hoping to hear what they were saying.
"Let me go!" he yelled at Emmett.
"No! You don't need that girl, Ed. Just let her go."
Hearing Emmett say that, I tried the doorknob this time, desperate to get into that room and make him see how sorry I was for hurting Edward all those times in the past. It was locked, of course, so I started beating the door and yelling for both of them this time.
They were yelling at each other and I heard Rose's name thrown around a couple of times. She had nothing to do with this, why would they even be arguing about her.
"...are you gonna let that damn girl..." Emmett yelled again.
His words were so hurtful and I tried as hard as I could to ignore them. I knew he hated me right now and how could I blame him. I hated myself for everything I'd done to Edward. But I was here to make things right. I was here to tell him that I was here for him.
"Fine! Bella can go to hell!"
Edward's words stunned me. All the air left my lungs and I fell against the door when my legs gave out.

No Edward wasn't harsh at all. I'm shocked beyond belief the teachers didn't shut Bella the f@ck up as she was talking right through the other team's 5 minutes. She is a weak selfish prick of a girl and in NO way deserves Edward. No Rose was not at all too harsh either. I can't stand a person as hateful and arrow as Bella. She's seems like a stupid uneducated hillbilly. She believes whatever Jake tells her. And does that after he has proven himself untrustworthy over and over again. Her friends should leave her on the curb. My gosh what if jake tells a lie about them Shell just believe it. She makes me sick. This should end with her losing her friends and Edward. She should end up just being jake's mistress while he marrys another. Wow. Talk about invoking emotion.

The one thing I walk away from this chapter actually bothered by is the caning scene. I'm bothered that knowing her background he would force her to sit through a Punishment caning in particular. i am very angry with Edward for at least not being attuned to the jumps with each hit long before she turned to him. He should not have taken her to that punishment caning in the first place if he just had to be selfish enough to push her to see a caning at least it should not have been punishment. Lastly, he comes off as an asshole to me that he didn't at least immediately after the first or first two that she responded to, take her away from there. My respect for him just dropped several notches.

Have a look and then maybe you will see why Edward didn't see a problem with taking her to see it. another thing, the strikes of the cane come fairly fast, especially during warm up (which is what was happening) so it might have been 30 seconds before she turned to look at him....He's only human and he thought he was doing the right thing with the information he had...thanks for reading ..lml

SHe tried to do that, she just took it and tried to leave and the witch grabbed her. I'm pissed at Edward right now for how he handled that in the office period. He pisses me off more than anything.

“About what?” she truly didn’t know what I meant, so I held up her arm. Bella’s face fell “Oh”
I kept staring at her while she sat back down in her seat, waiting for her to start talking. Whatever happened she didn’t want to tell me, but I wasn’t giving her a choice I wanted, no I needed to know. Finally she sighed and started talking.
“I don’t know what you want me to say Edward I handled it, ingeniously I thought, I let her know that I wasn’t going to take any of her shit while still obeying you. Did I do wrong? Were you mad at me?”

Leah went into the bathroom while Bella came around the corner into the kitchen. Our eyes met immediately as a warm smile engulfed her face. It was clear she had been crying and it took everything I had in me to remain in the chair and not run to comfort her. Sue looked up as she started putting food on the table then went over to hug Bella just as I wanted to. Bella nodded at whatever Sue was saying then left her go so she could say hello to her father.
“Hi daddy” Bella said wrapping her arms around him from the back before leaning down to kiss his cheek.

She is the one that sent him away. I think he did the very best thing. He couldn't stop 30 guys, but he could immediately get her out of it....the fact she was there so long was her own fault. Edward still was the one that got her out by calling Emmet and Jasper even though she sent him away. I do think Mike should get some serious repercussions. It wasn't clear to me whether Edward ever found out about the dog collar yet.

Well, the mystery is solved and I must say I feel a whole lot better for it. I've been in a funk for the past few hours, beating myself up, trying to decide why my last three chapters would seem so repetitive. Turns out I do post on all three sites: FFN first, then Twilighted and finally here at TWCS. I spread it out over a few days so my inbox isn't a complete nightmare. So, if you're reading updates from all three sites, of course that would be repetitive. ;)
Now I'm going to go have a glass of wine and a smoke to celebrate that I can move on. lol

I don't really understand your comment. This latest chapter was Bella's response to what Edward had written to her., which is actually the premise of the whole story. She is addressing his questions and giving him some hope to pursue her, although she isn't aware of that. I'm not sure how else I could have accomplished her reply. A big part of this story is the communication between them.

I love this story with everything in me. Just read through to here. I'm so glad I didnt find it before though. I would have died a thousand deaths having to wait in between some of those horribly angst ridden chapters. I'm glad I got all the way to where Edward has risen to the battle.

I have to say this story is on the top, I'd say top 5 best of all time on my list. There are a few, very few stories that are very well written, to the point of truely making you feel you have escaped to another very real world. The likes of which include Master of the Universe and The University of Edward Masen....in my book. Clear and Bright is spell binding, intriguing, exciting, erotic and.....and.....I can't even come up with the words to do it justice. I ache between chapters, dying for what comes next. While I read I keep glancing at the little bar to the right of the screen that tells me how near the end I am. Sometimes I slow down just to make the chapter last longer. I don't want to leave my alternate universe too quickly. Really, I'm so hooked. This is just so very well written. Please don't ever abandon it before you finish it.

I don't have words to express how special that is to me. I am honored. Truly. Claire and Jaimin mean so much to me... it's probably not normal... definitely not... but I am owned by them completely. I want to kill Edward yes. But I'm starting to want to kill Bella. Really it is getting a bit too much now. I want this man stuff. I can't control myself around him stuff. I mean if his "crimes" had been subtle or minor,OK, but he has said demeaning things about her to others in front of hers, he treats her like a whore, and constantly kisses, humps' and pretty much **ck's other women in front of her often even right after he screws her. Bella's mealy mouthed inner whining about how she can't resist him is wearing on me. She needs to grow up and have a tiny bit of self respect. Good writing..... Gets me all riled up.

It's emotional, but I translated a one shot back in October, that is way more emotional than this story...
Bella has moved back to Forks following a traumatic year. She is placed into temporary foster care with the Cullen's and meets Edward who is also battling his own demons. Life isn't a fairy tale; or maybe it is! Rated M for language AH E&B

I write because the voices in my head tell me too. Or was it the words on facebook...I can't remember. In truth, I am NOT a writer. I read, I review, I hoard porn, and I have a twisted sense of humor. I know people don't always review and I'm cool with that. This story has actually been posted for a while on ff. It has zero reviews over there. That led me to believe no one liked it. In truth, the only reason I even posted it over here was because I had took the time to make the banner way back when so I figured I'd use it :P Out of all the quickies I wrote, this was my favorite and the one I wanted to turn into a multi chappy fic.
