Poor Bella - not only does she have the Christmas party to dread, but her trusty truck is dead? Why didn't she call Jacob? (Also, if all her friends AND Sam know about her calf scar, how come Jake doesn't? He usually knows all her secrets.) Back to the truck, my daughter wants to know why she didn't just rent a car? I tried to tell her Bella doesn't have the same wussy parent to rent it for her like she does. Anyhow, great chapter - can't wait for the next one! Bella sees Jacob as a child still. He's just a teenager that needs to be looked after, so there is no way she would ever let him drive late at night by himself. His lack on knowledge on her scar is for the same reason. She sees Jake as young and impressionable and she wants to keep him from making the same mistakes she did, or learning about life too fast. In her opinion, he's just not old enough to really understand why she did certain things, like diving that day.
A rental car never crosses Bella's mind because it's something she wasn't capable of doing before - she's only been 21 for a couple of months. Before that, any rentals in her life came through Alice via Carlisle and his credit card.

Wow! Great chapter - LOTS of stuff happening!
I'm NOT happy with Edward's lapse of good manners at Karen's. That was really jerky of him to ignore her like that. He always has a hand touching her somewhere, and to not hold on to her and not immediately introducing her, shame on you Edward!
At the party, I was sad to not see them dance. It would've been something comfortingly sweet, especially after Bella got so dressed up for him. I'm curious, tho - did Jason NOT really know how involved Mary and Edward were when they starting dating? He seemed too nicely sincere when meeting the family. I wonder if Mary hadn't told him that Edward was just an "ex"?
Hopefully, next chapter you could expound a little on what Christmas presents people got? Especially what Bella and Edward got each other?
Something's bothering me, from previous chapters. Jake was with Charlie at the Cullen's for Christmas, comfortably so, and everyone seemed to know him. He's been around forever, and Edward was around for the past 6 years, enough for Jake to know that Bella and Edward argued all the time. So why did Edward feel he had to introduce himself in Ch. 1? ("We haven't met before," Edward said, extending his hand to Jacob. "I'm Edward.") Just kinda bothered me. (When you re-read this as many times as I do, little 'off' things tend to bother - sorry!)

Mary was calling Edward her "ex" within a week of knowing Jason. She told Jason that the breakup was amicable and the two were still very good friends - her excuse for spending time with both men. She's an opportunist and they know a million ways to put a spin and seem innocent.
I didn't really get into Christmas gifts because so many other things go on, but you will find out something that Bella got for Edward.
Edward knew of Jacob and Jacob of Edward, but they were never formally introduced. Jacob stayed away from Edward, considering him a "douche" and Edward pretty much stayed away from everyone to stay away from Bella. Remember that Edward had no idea of what Jacob's place was in Bella's life - his introducing himself that night was his way of trying to feel out Jacob and see if he was a threat or not.

I really liked this chapter - had lots of thoughts about it.
I like that Bella is losing some of her toughness and is even worried about "relationship codes". I feel bad, tho, that she's still getting teary worrying if she's good for Edward.
I like that Jasper is telling Emmett to shut up. He's starting to see that Em is overly annoying to Edward, too.
I like how Edward handled Bella's guilt. It didn't get into a serious discussion, he just smoothed her feelings.
There was a little Alice-Bella BFF interaction here - I'm hoping you put in more, cuz I like their friendship.
I read this chapter 4 times cuz I'm trying to figure out if I like hearing things from Edward's POV. For me, not really. I really like Halloween Edward and Bad Day Edward, and his POV seems to change my interpretation of him. But that's just me. I am really excited for the next chapter (cuz I read the tantalizing preview), and I really hope they don't break up (even if only for awhile) since Bella's freaking out about the lastingness of the relationship. But I am wondering what happened to make Edward snappy.

Yeah, Bella is growing into her relationship with Edward. It's still going to take her awhile before she really figures out her place, but she is trying.
Jasper tries to stay neutral as much as he can, but he also sees when neutrality will just leave Emmett thinking he has free reign.
Edward knew Bella was too tired for a serious discussion so his immediate focus was getting her to go to sleep. The talk is coming the next day, along with the explanation for his behavior.
Definitely more Alice showing her BFF skills with Bella coming up in future chapters.
The idea of his POV giving you a different opinion of him is the point of doing his POV at all. It's to show how differently Bella sees Edward from how he sees himself, and vice-versa. We'll only get a peak into his view during really important times and most not until after we have it all from Bella.

Great chapter - they had SO much fun. Makes me think of my college days. I hope Alice doesn't try meddling into something she started in the first place. Glad to see Edward enjoying himself so much, and glad to see Bella enjoying the relationship so much. So sorry for Edward, tho, that he didn't get to enjoy the second part of his tattoo fantasy (from the truth or dare game - Ch. 15). The tattoo is beautiful. I would never get one, but both my kids have them. (Again, longing for college days when I was a little bolder!) Kudos, again, to your talent.

Great chapter (as always!) - You've been leaving clues that maybe more of Bella's secrets will be revealed soon. I have a few theories about some of them. I've had to go back and reread chapters to figure out who knows what. It seems Jasper and Rosalie know some secrets that Alice doesn't? I'm surprised by that. Also, I've been trying to tie together all the clues that have been dropped throughout the story. I'm thinking we'll hear more about Mike Newton? Been wishing I could get in your head awhile, tho, and see if I'm on track. (Also, getting updates would be easier that way!) - Still wondering (like Emmett) if Eward and Bella had their 'fun' after the tattoo! Can't wait to see how Esme and Carlisle react, altho I'm sure they'll be cool about it. Can't wait for next week's installment!

You're correct about Jasper & Rosalie knowing some things Alice doesn't, but neither realize they know b/c Bella didn't come right out and tell them. Rosalie saw some of it and Jasper heard a part, but doesn't know enough about Bella's past to put 2 and 2 together, so to speak.
I'm not sure if Mike will appear, but we will hear about him. LOL Yeah, you might want to talk to EA about rooting around in my head. I hear it's a scary place.
As for E&B having their fun, it didn't happen. Edward was feeling a little too good in Bella's mind and she didn't want to do anything he might regret - she took Alice's warning seriously, which made her all the angrier when Alice threw a fit.
Date: 17 Jul 2010 Title: Chapter 25: The Past Laid Bare
Sweet, sweet chapter - brought tears to my eyes. Bella actually opened up in a non-angry, non-swearing way. Hope to see her say "I love you, too" sometime soon now.
I am a little confused, tho, about how long she baby sat for Aaron. In Ch. 1, she said she had babysat for him for 3 straight years. Yet in this chapter? "I knew him for a little over a year before I had to start living life without him."
Also am very glad to find out that big secret of Bella's. Newton was SUCH a jerk. Have to say tho, my imagination did take me to pregnancies and botched up abortions. But this way is better, because now there really IS hope that with expensive treatments, she can still get pregnant. (Sorry, but I'm already got Bella and Edward married and being parents - I'm never happy with a chapter's end, so I just keep extending them in my mind in all different tangents. I like the way you and EA think and write better, tho.) Now, I'm kinda nervous, tho, because it seems that all we have left to learn is why Emmett and Edward don't get along and why Edward gets so tired and then the story will end. Not at all ready for that! Hope you've got lots more for us.

Yes! Very proud of Bella for really letting go and talking to Edward, putting donw her walls. Trust me! The story is not ending anytime soon. We have a lot in store for everyone and Emmett & Edward won't be revealing their issues with each other for a while. And we do have the Stella secret and seeing how Alice adapts to not being the center of Bella's attention. LOL

Yep! She was absolutely over-thinking, just like Esme told her. That shows just how hurt Bella was by things going so wrong with the vile Mike Newton. She couldn't trust her heart at all with Edward and was trying to make her head figure it out, which never works right with Love - showing she truly is inexperienced in matters of the heart.

Sex - finally! I was so frustrated for them! Glad to see that they're getting back on track.
Lots of good, funny moments in this chapter. Bree's a hoot, and I can picture Emmett trying to hula! I'm looking forward to Hawaii. Hope Bella can get off of work easier than she did for Christmas and Valentine's Day.
Still intrigued by what Emmett has up his rear end when it comes to Edward. Edward's right - Emmett lets everyone else off easier when there's problems, but he REALLY gets on Edward's case. Is it really only because of a girl who liked quiet guys better than loud ones, back in school?

Liked the way Bella shot down the waiter to make Edward feel good. I'm not sure old Bella would have done that.
Looking forward to the girls' day out, too. When the 3 ladies get together, it's always fun to read about.
Here's what I'd like to see - now that Bella is so totally into Edward - and vice versa - I'd love for them to run into Mike (but at home, not in Hawaii, wouldn't want to spoil that great vacation). He's baaaack! My very favorite Edward - from chapters 1 and 5 - the hot, enigmatic Edward, the Edward who made me such a fan of this story! I like some soft, tender moments, but I really like hot and bothered moments, instigated by Edward (without soft, tender conversation). Lucky Bella - she's having so much fun w/Mr. Hottie! So glad she displayed some green-eyed jealousy for her green-eyed man.
The sports games, especially the nerf war, were great. Bella really came off a little bratty, tho, when she insisted on volleyball, and wouldn't listen to others' votes. Didn't even seem like she let the other guests in on the game, either. Guess that's just cocky Bella.
I'm gonna feel as sad as the six of them when they have to go back home. I've enjoyed all the Hawaiian fun. Can't wait for next week's chapter!

Poor Bella - how much that all must hurt! Honestly, tho, I also thought (as I have read other reviewers think) that maybe Bella was pregnant. I was also hoping maybe since this happened the new doctor would find a way to fix her. But I really do like your way, with Charlie easing her mind. There's so many women out there that can't have babies, and people need to remember that it doesn't mean they are broken.
I also get a kick out of strong Bella calling Charlie "Daddy". It seems so congruous to her personality. She called him that once before, in a previous chapter, and I kinda thought it was a typo. Glad to see it's wasn't. 22 is really that old.
I really do feel bad for Alice. She took care of Bella thru all previous bouts of "women problems", and she was so awesome in the early chapter when Bella had problems. I was kind of mad at Edward for pushing her out and taking over. I am SO glad that Bella took the effort to acknowledge Alice's efforts in this. I do know that if I had been Alice, the arguments would've been much louder, and I don't know if I would have been able to let Edward do it, no matter if he is the boyfriend.

I was really struck by the intense feelings Bella was revealing about being a Mom. At the beginning of this story, it seemed she was so totally resigned to not ever having that, that she was beyond thoughts about it. To see her tell Edward about her longings...what a change! It's been a pleasure seeing her grow and change during this story.
Love the Alice-Bella time! You know that's a favorite of mine!

I think I was waiting to find out she's pregnant instead of hormonal, but that would've messed the story up too much. Your way is somuch more realistic and better.

I like a good love story, but this one is getting way too sappy. Please don't let the entire time Edward is on his job hunt end in long phone conversations where they say "I love you" to each other endlessly. And I'm not sure I'm looking forward to Bella's romantic idea. Again, too much sap for me. (Just MY opinion, sorry if I offend anyone else.)
And when are we going to learn why Edward is having heart problems???

I had to take a day's break before writing this. When I saw the chapter summary at the top, my heart filled with dread. I thought maybe you were going to kill one of them off. But you killed their relationship! You know how vested I am in this story, I feel sometimes like it's really happening! (Silly me.)
Anyhow, very shocking, everything that happened. Now that I'm calmer, I can see how all the ruckus happened, and why the characters acted as they did - sorta. I must admit, I am REALLY surprised by Emmett's over-reaction. Bella has always been his sister-from-another-mother. I would have thought that he would have been SO worried about Bella, especially since she had been out cold for so long. His vitriolic comments to Bella were way out of line. I wonder how the aftermath is going to play out, because I can't see Bella, Edward, or Alice forgiving him easily for that.
I finally can see why Bella reacted as she did, not standing up for herself, and letting Emmett's comments affect her. She's been hurt herself, her boyfriend's just had complicated surgery, and she's all upset and confused. But what the heck is she doing? She's got her clothes on. Is she leaving the hospital? Where is she going to go? Is she planning on hiding out? Not going back to school in the fall? She left a note for Charlie, and for Edward (who will not be happy at all when he reads it!), so where is she running away to? I really, REALLY can not wait until the next update. So glad you said it might be next weekend. Thanx for this reading anguish and turmoil!

Wow! Bella's really messed up in the head, if she's taking on that much guilt - for absolutely EVERYTHING. Edward, Aaron, Ali possibly hating her... she's really out of self-esteem right now, if she's thinking everyone blames her. I really hate how two-faced Emmett is being. I hope he can't sleep at night. What I really want for him is for Rose to find out, get really, really mad, and break up with him for a while, cuz he was poison for Bella. Payback should be a bitch.
I'm so glad Jasper is there. Hopefully he'll be able to see thru her lies and evasions and figure out some of what is going on. Maybe Bella will talk in her sleep and let out some of her secrets?
I'm kinda surprised Alice has left Bella to herself for so long. They were SUCH good friends. I'm also surprised Esme hasn't been around to see what the heck is going on. I know she'd always pick Edward over Bella, but she did promise Bella no matter what went wrong, she'd always be part of the family.
Hopefully all will be resolved soon (and not take 10 chapters to get there - I'd be too nuts from suspense and anxiety by then).

Wow! Such a great long chapter - definitely worth the wait!
Got lots of wonderings wandering around my brain after all of this...
Pregnant, huh? wow! Had to go back and read how it might be possible. stupid, sneaky, leaky condom! I like Edward's reaction to it (so far). He sounds pleased and excited. I am figuring Emmett doesn't really remember going off on Bella, but if it WAS deliberate, I hope he doesn't throw more guilt at her saying she was irresponsible and that she's making Edward's life worse by trapping him with a baby. I was surprised by the fact that she was off meds because Edward and Alice specifically asked Jasper about things and he answered as if he was sure.
Beautiful seranade from Edward! That guy's got game. He must have really been in good form with husky singing if Bella didn't recognize his voice from the first note.
So glad that Carlisle already had discussions with Esme about Bella feeling guilty. He was able to assuage her guilt by giving her good, sensible, and solid answers.
Really surprised but happy that Bella came clean about Emmett and his "threats". Kinda thought that maybe she would've talked about it in her sleep, and given Edward hints that way. But now he's got the whole story. Can't wait till next chapter to see how that conversation goes!
I know Emmett was upset for Edward, and that people's emotions do get the better of them, but I really hope that it's not all forgive-and-forget with everybody toward him. He really, really screwed Bella up, and that shouldn't be treated lightly.

Oh, Edward's got major game! He had the Lifehouse song down cold! Then again, he'd been practicing it outside of the apartment since coming up with the idea at the baseball field.
It will definitely not be forgive and forget. There will be forgiveness b/c there has to be for emotional healing, but it won't be quick and easy.

I'd like to see Karen get involved in the future. Maybe call Bella after talking with Edward, and actually getting some info out of her to pass on.
On the subject of NumbNuts...I really hope it isn't Edward. For one, it would be way, way too coincidental that out of everyone on the world-wide-web, those 2 hook up. Second, Edward and Bella know each other - they know each other's tastes, and they've spent countless hours talking music. Some of those opinions surely would come out during a chat and ring a bell? Also, NumbNuts talks more crassly than Edward does. And when they talk about their problems, shouldn't it make them think that there's something too familiar about it all? Also, I can't see Edward referring to his family as his "roommates". I'd like to see it be someone who could be a friend, but not Edward. Anyhow, that's my opinion.
While I am not looking forward to a months-long separation, I am looking forward to all the funky things that will probably occur now that Edward is lliving with them. I still think there's something really skewered about Bella's way of thinking (about how bad she is for Edward and how they all can hate her), but I still think there could be a medical reason for her OOC-reasoning. Looking forward to seeing this revealed.
PLEASE do something rotten to Emmett - I am SO angry with him, still!

I like this new Edward! He's more carefree and open. He must really enjoy being well enough to handle (and enjoy) being around people! Bella is also entranced!
This is really taking a toll on her - and all this loose clothing? Readers (including myself) are wondering if she is pregnant? but I am wondering, if she is, how they missed that when she was in the hospital herself, after the crash. I'm pretty sure they always check bloodwork on people who stay unconscious for as long as Bella was.
Also curious how Bella can be so uninformed about the sport of baseball? She is, after all, the daughter of sports enthusiast Charlie. I'm sure she sat through many Mariner games, watching TV with him.
You said Esme is appearing in the next chapter. Yea!!! I love Esme, and I think Bella really needs a little mother-love. That girl is WAY too much on her own. She's not that old, that she should always be so on-her-own independent. Thank goodness for Alice and Jasper to continue giving her family hugs!

Oh, wow! Esme is truly awesome! She really has a good grip on Bella's emotions right now, catching how scared she is about being at fault. So glad Alice is a good sharer - Bella needed Esme's undeivided attention.
Bella's getting closer to Edward - how great! I can understnad her sleeping with him the first night, but I was really surprised about her going to his room on Tuesday night. Hmmm - that ought to create some interesting story material!
Still wondering about NumbNuts being Edward. You know I find it too coincidental. However...maybe Edward really knows it's Bella, and he's playing along with her for a reason. So much information was shared between BB and NN the last conversation, that Edward (if NN is him) would have to see the resemblances to his life!
And Lifehouse on the playlist, huh? Wasn't that the group who recorded the song Edward danced with Bella to on their "special" date, at the beginning of the story?

I was really mad at Emmett for the stupid thing he did, and I wanted him to suffer as a consequence, but never did I imagine it going as you wrote. He really is mad and upset with himself, and he really is sorry. You have Rosalie being SO much more upset with him than I thought she could be. They actually might break up! Rose brought up SO much backstory about Bella's early life and brought to light so many things to fear. I really hope Bella does not react how Rose envisions her acting.
I, too, worry about Bella miscarrying. Some earlier chapter alluded to her problems of not only getting pregnant, but carrying to term. I can't wait for her to actually find out she's pregnant. I'm thinking that Monday (when she goes to the doctor) happens before the anniversary party? So she'll know, then, and can share with Charlie and the rest of the family (if she wants)?
I went back to read the story from the beginning this weekend. Bella was certainly feisty and spoke her mind back at the beginning. It's so sad to see her so insecure and with so little self esteem now. All this really took a toll on her. I really do hope she finds more peace of mind, and gets back her brazen self. The girl-time with Alice was really sweet. Bella needs all her friends back.
I still have to laugh at how abysmally out-of-touch she is about baseball. She was so into football (see Ch. 3!), for her to be so ignorant about baseball is really funny.

The changes in Bella's life in the past year have torn her down but she's not done yet. She might be tired of fighting but she's not out of fight! Her doc appt is Monday and the anniversary party isn't until Friday.
Bella can't sit still for the slowness of baseball and that's why she never bothered to learn anything about it.

I am SO sad that this ride is ending! I've been 'on' it for so many, many months and have enjoyed every bit of it.
Kinda seemed, tho, that the last few chapters flew through their lives. I would've loved to read more about the pregnancy, about the baby shower, about the total chaos of the triplets' first year - but that's because I can never get enough.
This last chapter was so sweet - wonderful glimpses into their family life. The kids and their relationships with the adults ("my Jazzy" - perfect!), Bella's and Edward's still awesome relationship, Edward finally getting his business... Loved it all!

I know what Edward Santa means, about kids these days feeling entitled to big expensive gifts. I am now believing the movement that says to have the big gifts come from parents and smaller modest gifts come from Santa, so that other less-fortunate children don't think Santa wasn't as kind to them because they had been not-as-good.
And reindeer drinking beer? Ha!
This isn't a sequel to a previous Christmas story, is it? I'm hoping it's a stand-alone.

Dr. Edward Cullen had it all. A job he excelled in, a high-rise penthouse apartment in the heart of New York city, and a wife he loved more than anything else in the world. Edward is called upon to perform life-saving surgery on a patient who cannot travel. He was excited to do it, until he found out where it was, the Arctic Tundra. It would require him to be away from his loving wife for at least two months.
Bella Cullen supported her husband and when he came home and told her someone needed him, she told him to go. Kissing him goodbye at the airport, he promises to be home soon, leaving his heart with her.
