I had always been the nerdy one: big glasses, bag full of books and an overstated passion for drawing.

My sister has always sustained that if I would have ridden of the glasses and lowered a bit my “nerdy percentage”, as she used to call it, I would have had all the women at my feet.

“Ok you can leave your glasses on, it’s fashion nowadays” she once said to me.

but I was simply like this and, for this reason, I was single for a long time. I used to look at the girls by afar never doing the first step: they used to get closer, we talked a bit but then, the famous nerdy percentage came into action and they flew away. Always the same scheme. More or less.

Until I met her.

She never made the first move.

So, in the end, I did it.

Simply I wasn’t prepared to how that move would have changed my world; leaving me…speechless.

I met Edward on a boat. A very large boat -- the morning ferry commute from Bremerton to Seattle.

Content with my life, I wasn't looking for anything...I was happy in my safe little rut. But that's the funny thing about Fate -- it often strikes when you least expect it. Mine came in the form of blazing toffee-colored eyes, a wicked smile, and a mane of unkempt golden and chestnut hair.

What I didn't realize at the time was that Edward is a paradox.
