Well, I was still surprised by how much Kate was involved. She still was played by Garrett, but so glad Bella took her out. Am I the only one who thinks this a set up? Let's face it Kate is not the sharpest tool in the shed. I have no doubt Garrett set this up. Probably told her he would rescue her and she could be there to see Edward and Bella die and get her 'rightful' claim to NY. Garrett's already proven how cunning he can be. He probably guessed right that Bella would want to confront her sister. This way he has both Edward and Bella together and away from Carlise's protection. Especially since there attacks on the home itself have failed and Carlisle won't let anyone in or out. With the sequel coming, I guess it doesn't end well from Garrett and Kate. Can't wait to see how this plays out and who the rat is.

Edward already gave his permission for Bella to come to NY with him, so WHY did Carlisle feel it necessary to give Bella his permission? What if Carlisle would've said no? Would Edward have still taken her, or gone back on his word? I mean, Edward is her husband, NOT Carlisle, so I feel at this point that Carlisle is just being domineering & ridiculous. That can't be good for a marriage - especially a new one that's practically between strangers, if E's parents are trying to control everything. They trust Edward enough to run the family "business", but not with his own wife? :/ Edward needs to put his parents in their place, especially where his private life is concerned.
Don't get me wrong...I know in the grand scheme of things that they are only trying to protect Bella, but she's not a little kid, even though she's behaved like one most of the time. Lol

Interesting chapter. It seems that Garrett and the Russians aren't wasting any time. I can't help but notice that Jaspar was not at the house during this attack. I admit I was surprised to find Bella in a good mood. If I had to guess I would think Rosalie was the suppiler just like she was with the valium at the funeral. Things probably were very tense between Bella and Esme and the wine took the edge off at least for now. Edward is too funny. He doesn't even realize the affect Bella is having on him already. He seemed a little put out that she was laughing and and he needed to find out the reason. Nothing like embarassing family pictures! Edward had a favorite toy as a kid. How funny that it was himself! He wants Bella happy, but he cares too much about her opinion of him to be the source. Funny how one minute he's ready to ship the dog and Marcus away if Bella so much as protests and then he tris to act like she doesn't have any say in the matter! Loved him trying to use the Thursday gift as a reason for her to accept the dog. Edward is falling in love. Can't wait to see what tips the scales for him to admit it to himself and Bella. In some ways Edward is still a little boy, he can't talk about feelings so I'll storm off and do some manly stuff! Too funny.

I'm not sure that I like that it seems like everyone's going to brush their treatment of Bella under the rug like it didn't matter. I know Bella's unsettled right now, but I hope she has her say. Both Carlisle and Esme were way out of line. I do like that Edward's feelings are coming to the surface more. I just wish he would tell Bella. I'm beginning to have some doubts about Jasper.
