Oh NO! I kept thinking that over and over as I read this. Poor Carlisle, he's gonna step into a flame next. Even though we had the warning starting two chapters ago, reading it play out was heartbreaking. I didn't think he would do it, he's so in character and principled and trying to "do the right thing" and I'm just so glad you relieved a little of the tension and had him say it. Crushing was how it was feeling up until that last chapter!

First off - you picked my ALL time favorite song. Seriously - I got goosebumps when I read it here. It was like you were righting this chapter just for me and now I'm all on the Carlisle train!

I have this huge feeling of dread for the upcoming visit and what's gonna happen.

I wept and wept. I had to remind myself that this is just a story and these are fictional characters. The entire scene - it was real, REAL! What an incredible gift but at the same time, so damn bittersweet. I like that she is being given (and encouraged) to open her heart. I'm still so sad that he and Esme died. Isn't that weird? Like I need to go read something else where he is alive again.

I'm not usually much for non Bella/Edward pairing, but I find that I'm just cheering things on for Carlisle in your story.

Ah, such a relief! I was hoping Carlisle would step up to the plate and refuse to just let her leave. Can't wait to see her reaction.

This is a bummer but its so appropriate. There is nothing, she has lost everything and then didn't get the chance to leave. She doesn't even know she's lost Esme too. I like how matter of fact you are about everything the vampires can accomplish. Of course they can redecorate at the drop of a hat, they have decades worth of stuff and speed and strength. Totally made sense to me.

Yay!  Carlisle finally told Bella how he feels!  I didn't doubt you, though.  I figured that even if Bella did leave, she wouldn't be alone for long.  I can only imagine what Bella felt when she saw Kate kissing Carlisle, especially since she didn't know the feeling wasn't mutual.  The karaoke was hysterical!  I'm so glad you included a little bit of fun in this chapter.  BTW, I love Carmen and Eleazar and hope they visit a while longer.

I loved the game, and how they try to include Bella in things. I also loved Carlisle's reaction to what Tanya and Irina did to her, him standing for her spoke of his feelings more loudly than words could have. I hope Bella will realize their stupidity, rather than get lost once more in self-blame and loathing.

Lovely chapter. The family's determination to see the two of them end up happy and together is heartwarming. I hope that Bella can stay away from her habitual self-doubt and at least attempt to open herself to Carlisle instead of running away from the problem.

well a first kiss between them woudl have made the wait a little better.  WTF with Kate making a pass at Carlise  plllllllease.  I guess maybe she is just a shocker all the way around.  Maybe Jasper could mess with Kates moods, maybe turn her affection and lust to tanya that woudl be funny.

I'm glad that the family is back together again. I'm sure the four of them were living in comfortable companionship but it's Emmett's joy and playfulness that will restore their family to what it used to be. They need his attitude and behavior to keep the tensions away. I am glad that Bella was able to take away some of the guilt Rosalie was feeling because she's right. They all made their own decisions regardless of what prompted those decisions in the first place. They need to move forward and live life as it comes.

It makes me sad for what Charlie had to go through but I understand that it was necessary. I felt bad for Bella for having to hear about all of it but I'm glad Carlisle cared about her enough to keep tabs on him all this time so he could ease Bella's fears and she would know that Charlie is really okay.  I'm curious if after hearing that Charlie is fine and obviously happy with Sue, will Bella's nightmares stop or is there more to them than just fear for Charlie.

I had also been wondering if Bella ever told Carlisle what Edward said to her about their souls because it was never mentioned. I'm glad she finally did because that will put all of them at ease and make it easier to fully let go of Edward and Esme.

I am happy to see that Carlisle and Bella have fallen into such a comfortable relationship. She cares about him and he's falling for her and soon enough something will tip the balance and they will be able to let love in completely. I can't wait for that because they are so sweet together.

You are writing this so beautifully and I'm so glad I found this story. There aren't enough Carlisle/Bella stories out there and this is one of the better ones that I have found. Thanks for writing and sharing this with us. As a writer myself, I understand RL taking us away from our writing but you need to take care of your husband. Heart-wrenchingly poignant. The good-bye between Edward and Bella had me holding my breath at its sheer beauty.

Another heart-wrenching chapter. Carlisle's hope is almost tangible, and it's easy to see him giving up everything to help Bella. I can't see him ever agreeing to kill her, though changing her might be acceptable to him if this continues for too much longer.

I'm starting to lean more toward my second guess, that Bella's thrown herself into a place of her own creation - the meadow with Edward. It makes sense that she's so overwhelmed right now, her mind isn't capable of coping with reality and so it's gone someplace it feels safe and content. I am loving this story.

Excellent chapter. Everyone's pain is written so well, so fully, that it's easy to feel exactly what they're going through, bringing the reader into their hearts in a way that's almost too intense.
