I cannot express how much this story has captivated my heart! You've captured the way they talk, act and are named, in this story like it is suppose to be, considering the time period it is. Most of the times, when you read western fics, etc. the language is too proper or too futuristic for the timeline that they're set in. However, you have hit the nail on the head. I love the fact that they're nicknames are Ed and Izzy, simple and perfect for it. And the way they talk? Oh my goodness, I love it!
I'm so glad that Edward killed James before he could seriously hurt Izzy, I was literally spazzing out as I waited for him to find her in the train car.
You've done such a great job writing this story and telling it the right way. I can't wait until you update again :) Love it!!

Dear Lord! What a cliffhanger! Sorry to not review more than several chapters sooner and separately, but our family was away on vacation. RL ensued, now finally I can catch up!
First, I must tell you how very much I love this piece of work. Everytime I read it, I have the feeling of discovering and reading a journal I found in an attic trunk left by an ancestor. Written with the local dialogue it is beyond perfect; it brings you to the time and place. I smell the smells, I am able to see what they see, it truly transports the reader to Ed and Izzy and follow them on their journey of discovering the country and each other. I can't wait to keep following.

I also would have had trouble living in the past. I can't stand wild game. I could not eat squirrel, deer, bear, etc. I certainly could not kill my own food. I like it already dead and cut nicely in the store.

UTIs were probably even more common back then. Lets face it, they didn't bath as often as we do especially when they are traveling. You can only be so clean just washing with a washcloth when you have extra water. Making sure they have enough water to drink is a higher priority than a bath. They have to wait for a river or a lake for a full soaking.
