I never thought I'd say this but I actually like Charlie and Tanya together. They are good for each other. And as for Edward, I think, for the moment, it's a good thing that he's forgotten about Bella. Otherwise he would be feeling guilty for Bella's current state(and as we all know Edward loves to feel miserable and guilty for everything - it's like his hobby).

I really wanted Charlie to be a bigger part of the story than he was in canon. I never really liked Charlie with Sue Clearwater. She wasn't enough a part of the story to really feel any connection to her, and Tanya was the only one left unmated at the end fo the story, so... There you go. Charlie and Tanya.
Edward's memory loss and his "death" before he was able to send the pictures he and his friends took are important to the rest of the story. I hope you'll like it!

I'm afraid Edward lost more than just his human life, he lost everything connected to it. His family, his friends, everyone and everything, including Bella. That's why I went into detail on his daily life and the people he loved, because I wanted the reader to see and feel everything Edward lost. All he knows of his human life is what he's seen in Carlisle's mind, and a good portion of that is bad. The only two memories he has of his father are the 4th of July picnic and his death. And remember at the 4th of July picnic? His father's and friend's reactions to Carlisle? He understands now that their reaction was because Carlisle was a vampire, just like he now is, too. He knows how his mother suffered after his father's death, and he has seen himself wasting away with first grief over his father and worry for his mother and then through exhaustion with the epidemic. He understands now Carilisle's desire to keep both him and his mother safe from the epidemic, urging them to stay away from the hospital. And he has seen Carlisle's memories of that last night in the hospital with little Charlie on his lap and knows that was likely when he was infected himself. It could also have been when he fell asleep with Charlie and Kitty while they were staying at his house, but he has no knowledge that that ever happened because Carlisle didn't witness it. But one way or the other, he caught the flu from Charlie. He knows he loved the little boy enough to risk such close and prolonged contact with him rather than leave him alone, but he has not one other memory of him because that was the only time Carlisle ever saw him. He has the memory of Carlisle's that Edward told him he taught the little boy to throw a ball at a picnic, but aside from knowing it happened, he has no actual memory of it. Edward is always described as sullen and broody, but can you blame him?

I just found your update laaaate last night(early this AM). That was some chapter, let me tell you. Don't want to sound ungrateful, but, does this early update for Joey's birth mean no update for today? Hate to appear greedy but I kept myself busy all week so I wouldn't haunt the web site(hence, no knowledge of the early update) I really need the next chapter today. Oh, well, "It's life, Jim, But not as we know it". I have to go get Mother up and ready for the beauty shop this morning. My mother-in-law (age 85) has been doing her hair since 1960 I think. I wonder, if since she already knows Edward - well human Edward, how this change their relationship moving forward? Will it develop the same way as in Twilight or will it change completly? Why did Tanya and everyone stay away while she was in Forks? Argh so many unanswered questions, keeps me coming back for more. :)

Bella had nothing to do with the Cullen's high-tailing it out of town. They left because of the "missing" campers. They had help going missing, if you catch my drift. More on that later.
Vampire Edward is coming in chapter 20 which I will be updating shortly, but I'm afraid you'll have to wait for your answers a little longer!

I don't want to read an edited story, so I should stick to TWCS, then (Albeit I maintain that you should not edit your story to please the morality brigades haunting ff net and reportin authors). I too much prefer Twilighted net, but I am only human, therefore I want to read more advanced chapters. For this reason I post on Twilighted net first (which, as reviews go is the most appreciative of the things I write) and I post somewhere else only when I have finished there.

This chapter wasn't edited at all. It was only the issue with the formating where Bella's thoughts are running wild. On ffn, they showed all aligned with the margin instead of strewn all over like they are here and on Twiligted. I really think having them scattered all over shows the state her mind was in rather than all straight and neat. As for the sex scenes to come, I don't think they're too much, but I've heard so many stories about one person out of thousands of readers complaining and having the story pulled I'm afraid. I believe the ratings are there for a reason, if you don't want to read a story with sex, then stick to lower ratings, but I'm afraid of just one person complaining.

In this chapter I particularly enjoyed Bella's observation of Renee and Phil's relationship, regardless of their age difference.
You give Bella a kindness and hopefulness that is very pleasing. You make Edward's character less controlling and less angst ridden, even in the middle of the war and the epidemic.

So the fact that Edward loved a girl from the future was part of his family memories ... Extraordinary. Will they come into play later in the plot? I can't wait to met vampire Edward.
As you see I am reviewing here, but I much prefer to go on reading on ff net (And Twilighted is not an option, since the validation process slows updates). But I did not understand your note. Apart from the formatting, are you going to post a different text there? Why should you be removed from there? I mean, I do hope that E&B will make love in this story eventually, and I hope you will not fade to black, but fics removed are normally AHs and go on having sex scenes all the time, with or without a plot. There is no point really to post a different text on ff net, since you are posting here too, but consider it a back up (I do the same).
TWCS is a cold site, the readers review very little, so it is not my favorite. At least on twilighted you are sure that the fics you find have quality standards.

I don't particularly like FFn, I prefer Twilighted or this site. FFn keeps messing up my formating, and I have to use periods to hold blank lines. Also, I much prefer being able to see my responses to reviews like this so I can make sure I didn't miss anyone. This chapter is identical to the one on FFn. I only put that note up because I think the formating really makes a difference to show how Bella's mind was running wild, random bits of different things she'd read running through her mind mixed with what Edward had written. The only things I had entended to edit on FFn are the eventual sex scenes. I don't think they're over the line, but I'm so afraid of just one person complaining and having it pulled without warning. Pulling the story wouldn't be such a terrible thing since it's posted other places, it all my reviews I don't want to lose.

Ok, so, I know I'm only on Chapter 2, but I just had to leave a note and let you know that this story is unbelievably awesome. I'm such a fan of the historical contexts- even at this point, it comes off as being very well thought out. And I love Bella's attitude: why worry about my loser ex-boyfriend when I know there's so much more out there?
And this paragraph:"..This desk, just look how hard it's been used. You can just feel it. Look at the drawers; you can tell they've been opened and closed thousands of times. It's banged up and the leather is stained. It's not in pristine or mint condition, but it's alive. Someone could have sat at this desk and written to a soldier during World War One." Totally gave me chills- I have actual goose bumps right now from that.
And I think it's beyond cool that you wrote your great aunt into the story.

I'm so glad you like it! Historical fiction is my favorite. I just love reading about how different everything was. I did a lot of research while writing this to keep Edward's world as reall as possible - over 60+ pages worth of notes, mostly on the epidemic. Not 100%, but for the most part, if it happens around Edward, it really did happen.

Sorry that I didn't mention in my last review that yes, it's sad to see Ed Sr. getting sick, especially knowing what's coming. Heartbreaking, actually, knowing what comes next. Very glad Bella came to her senses, because Edward does need her, so much.
I can't wait to see how you bring these two together (assuming that's your plan, of course)! :)

Oh, that's the plan alright. But it takes time. They don't actually meet face to face till chapter 50. Just kidding! It doesn't take that long. I'm not that cruel.

I am absolutely fascinated! Your attention to detail makes for a very interesting story! I tend to read more on ff.net, but periodically check in here to see if I stumble across a good read. I love reading about Edward and his family before the flu hit, and the relationship between Bella, Renee and Phil. You threw me for a loop when you threw in Tanya-with Charlie! Can't wait to see how that pans out!
I haven't quite figured how to get an alert when a story updates here, so I'll just try to check in regularly. Excellent story!

I'm new here myself, so I really couldn't tell you how to get alerts. I love Charlie-Tanya. Charlie is one of my favorite characters, and he has a bigger role in my story than he generally does.
