I can just imagine what kind of pain you must be going through. I was in a horrible drunk driving accident years ago when someone decided he would rather drink at 8 am while I was driving to work. He blew through a stop sign going 85 mph into oncoming traffic. Needless to say, many of us did not see this asshole coming. An 8 yr old was unfortunately killed along with the drunk driver himself. I ended up with a broken back, a broken hip, and a brain injury that has now left me with seizures.
Back injuries are nothing to laugh or smile about. I'm glad your on the mend and your life is starting to look up.
As for your writing, I recently ran upon a quote that has helped me with not only my writing, but my everyday struggles.
It states, "I've seen better days, but I've also seen worse. I don't have everything that I want, but I do have everything that I need. I woke up with some aches and pains, but I woke up. My life may not be perfect, but I'm blessed."
I don't know if your religious or not, and that's okay, I'm not judging, but when I have a day when I hurt so bad I can't stand it. I pray and ask Him to just make it better.

Oh my God! Demetri is truly a psychopthic schizo, he needs to die and die now. Poor Charlie, he survived Jacob and now he's in the clutches of Aro and his sickos. Will he get the chance to see Bella again, apologise to her for his neglect throughout her life? I hope so.
Lol, I can't believe Bella and he insistance on her engagement ring. Edward's getting more than he bargained for but I think he's getting used to it now what with his laundry mishap and kitchen incident, hahahaha!! Will he buy Bella another ring and say it's for something else? He desperately wants to give Bella the best but she doesn't need that from him. She's not a material girl and he's going to have to find a different way to give her what she needs and show her that she has it.

Oh my God! Poor Charlie, he's going to be wishing he died when Jacob attacked him. Demetri has completely lost the plot and Alec is more scared of him than ever, if he had any sense he'd either kill him now or run.
Edward proposed! I didn't expect him to do it so quickly, I thought they might be further into their holiday before he did. Will she say yes? I never think anything is really a given with Bella. If she does say yes, will they marry before they get home? Alice will kill them if they do but I think she'd understand.

He could become careless because he's distracted in some way by Bella but Carlisle has to ask himself how he managed to still do his job when he had Esme and two young children. Bella's independence is going to get her into big trouble if she doesn't watch out. You'd think she'd know by now that if Edward or Jasper tell her to do something that she'd do it, that she'd realise it's to keep her safe but no, she has to stand there, question why and argue the toss, she's so infuriating. I'm on the demon's side with this she really needs to be shown what she's got herself into and then maybe she'll start doing as she's told without question. She also needs to be taught how to defend herself properly. I think Alice and Rose need to stop all the girly stuff for a while and make it clear to Bella in black and white what she needs to know, do and why.
