This is my first fanfiction. It is a Sookie and Eric story that follows them as they grow and change, facing tough choices and making hard decisions that will affect not only them as a couple, but also many of those who surround, depend and simply love them both. Originally posted on FanFiction.net,  the first few small chapters have been edited  into a fewer larger chapters for cohesiveness of the story.

At first, Put Me First was conceived as a one-shot, but once it commenced, it was clear there would be no easy and quick resolution to their relationship. The Viking and the telepath, both deep and complicated characters, are far from coming to an understanding. Engraved behaviors, instilled norms and rules of each one’s society, inability to trust and open up to one another despite their mutual wish and need for true companionship hold them back. Their inner struggles make their POV’s at times conflicting and inconsistent. They see and interpret the same evens and words in different light, and finding a balance and common ground will take hard work and compromises. A few details of the canon are changed to suit the plot, such as Pam having a day person and human-vampire marriage not being legal in Louisiana yet.

What would have happened if Eric Northman had been sent to procure Sookie Stackhouse for the Queen of Louisiana?  This is my interpretation of how SVM/TB would have gone without Bill Compton.

Ten years have passed since Bill Compton met his True Death.  In those ten years, Eric Northman has become a business tycoon.  New Blood has propelled him and his progeny, Pamela Swynford de Beaufort, into the billionaires’ club.  To the public, they are the saviors of the human and vampire races.  In private, Eric is once again the badass Viking vampire he was before he met Sookie Stackhouse.

One night, someone from the past comes asking for help.  Will Eric help or will he let the hurt and anger he has carried for ten years get in the way?  Eric will learn that not everything is as it seems.

After a visit to a toy store, during which Sookie Stackhouse found herself grudgingly caught within the mayhem in an attempted assassination of the local La vampires. Only to wake and discover that she & her family had been claimed by the Area 5 Vampire Sheriff. HIGH rating is warranted.
