Author's Response: Hi I'm not sure where you think I'm from, but I, too, am English, which is why I made my Bella English. I say crikey all the time, although I have never heard any of my many Australian friends and acquaintances use the expression. Bella is from Berkshire. Like many posh girls (of which I have met many) Bella and her friends affect a lot of urban-style expressions, of which minger is one - bandied about by most of my friends, and popular amongst both middle class and working class girls. As for 'load of old pony', have you never heard the middle classes adopting Cockney rhyming slang? I hear it all the time, used by all ages and classes of people. But I live in London, so maybe it's more prevalent here. Thanks for reading.
