I understand where your coming from with the Bella and Edward falling in love thing, but if you go back and see the conversation between him and Alice when he acknowledges that he has fallen forher. Their connection was instant and the ordeal just forced the issue.

I feel so SO sorry for Bella. And not just for the realisation that she was raped, but that she has a father who couldn't even give her a hug and comfort her after not seeing her for 6 months.
I am also increasingly concerned about Bella's coke habit. I was getting worried towards the end there that neither Edward or Charles would find out, but was relieved that Edward saw her. I thought that perhaps he might have recognised the signs in the taxi ride and was then waiting to ambush Bella at the right time to catch her out on it, but i think his reaction was too shocked for that to be the case. Perhaps now though we will find out about Edward's past as he tries to help Bella through her addiction.
Great chapter. You did very well to make it not too confronting. It held just the right amount of shock value and tentativeness. I am looking forward to your next installment...

Edward will eventually reveal his past to Bella, although not till he thinks she is strong enough to deal with it.
