Fantastic descriptions of a time in our history that many wish to rewrite as if it never happened.
I live just outside Washington DC, visiting the Holocaust Museum puts it all in perspective.
As an American, I find it hard to imagine what the other countries involved in this war endured. Let alone the devastation and lengthy period of recovery after.
