I'm glad Edward did what he did. It is very realistic. No one with an ounce of self-respect would be a doormat or have that much understanding most especially when the other person has exhibited serious immaturity like Bella has. She is so flightly it's a wonder she hasn't taken flight. Yes, Edward made mistakes but that doesn't excuse toddler behavior from Bella. I'm also glad Bella went ballistic at the mention of Edward dating other people. It makes me think of this true statement - Do unto others what you would have them do unto you.
Again, I understand her needing to explore and understand who she is. It's not that in and of itself. It's her behavior throughout it. Hopefully she will grow up.

I was definitely hoping it would be realistic. Bella is in the middle of a huge, life-altering realization about what she wants from life and what she needs to do to get there. She will grow up.

Bella is bizarre. She was going to end it with Claire but because claire ended it it's like the end of the world for her. She's emotionally immature. I truly don't see what Edward sees in her. She is profoundly immature and downright stupid. She reminds me of an animal - going on instinct alone. It's not that she slept with another person - it's her emotional state and frank idiocy. She needs to grow up - badly.I usually don't say this in E&B stories, but I really want Edward with someone else. I know that's not going to happen in this story, but dang does this incarnation of Edward desperately needs it!

Even if you know you're making the right decision, ending something with someone you care about is always going to be painful. She would have been just as upset after if she had been the one to tell Claire it was over and not the reverse. She's giving up on what could potentially have been a good relationship and losing a friendship and I think it's natural to mourn that to a certain extent.
I don't disagree that Bella has made some bad decisions and not been as emotionally mature as she could be. However, I do think she's making progress and in some respects has been very mature. She could have gotten in a relationship with Edward and cheated on him, which would have been far worse. She could have lied to him about her feelings for Claire, and she could have continued to pursue something with Claire even though it hurt Edward. I'm not saying she's without fault, or as mature as she needs to be, but she has been doing the best she can.
I think you will see more of that in the upcoming chapters. I am sorry you dislike her so much, and that you can't see why Edward cares about her. I hope by the end you see that.

I know Bella needs time. I just wish she would tell Edward that she needs time. I'm sure Edward is hysterical as he should be. They just need to talk and Edward needs to give her space to sort through his jackass idiocy.
I also hope Bella puts things in perspective - yes, Edward was an idiot. Yes, he hurt her horribly. Yes, he does deserve to be kicked in the balls and left writhing for a while. Yes, he does deserve a shot at redemption. He fell in love with her. He ended the bet. He was going to tell her (but fear stopped him before she found out). He did the right thing and he was going to continue to do the right thing by telling her.
I hope they focus on the fact that they are much better together than apart.
