I really like the mixture of present day and flashback element of this story. You want to be mad at the "now" Edward, but after reading the "then" Edward you want to cut him some slack (just a teeny bit mind!). Alice seems to of lit the initial touch paper, though I can't decide whether it was through concern or malice yet.
