As someone who grew up in this type of situation and then for a breif time repeated the cycle, this story is very realistic. Thank you for bringing attention to it. It is not ok to look the other way......you can't always help but you can always let a person know you are there for them without judgement. Sometimes that is all someone needs to find their own inner streanth. Loved it.

Thank you for your review. I also know what it's like to grow up in a household like this. In some small part I based Alice's expereince with my own. However mine wasn't nearly as severe. You're right that you can't always help, sometimes it's far beyond whatever you can do, but i'm enough of an optimist to say that there is always hope. I could have ended this story in many different ways, but I chose the happy future outlook. I'm sorry to hear about your past but from the sounds of it you refused to let it get the better of you.
