Sunny and Kyle

I wondered about Sunny and Kyle when I read The Host. They intrigued me. This is how I think their story went.

Disclaimer: I don't own these characters or The Host, they belong to Ms Meyer. I'm just playing with them.

Damn, Jodi’s feelings for Kyle must have been overwhelming, if Sunny is affected like this, even with Jodi completely, hmm, eclipsed.  If she was awake, like Mel, she would have convinced Sunny to go on a quest to find Kyle, even without any clue about where he is, I think.

Good job picturing her situation, and how the other souls worried without really getting what she was going through, Fairy.

Beginning from her beginning, huh? It was a nice start, showing how Sunny assimilated Jodi’s feelings for Kyle.  Really good, if short.        :)

Soppy is good.  I do soppy!  No complains from me you will hear.  Or read.

Honestly, from the book, I would think that Kyle wasn’t there yet.  He was more like getting his head around how his life would be with Sunny.  But I prefer to think you just expedited things a bit.        ;)

Again with the honesty thing,  I’m a teensy bit disappointed.  When I discovered your story, I thought you were going to talk about their future.  After the book, you know?  But you made a nice description of both Kyle and Sunny’s trajectory.  And the future seems to be set. So I will take it.        ^_^

Whoa!  Blindsided!  So, Jodi has a dark side, eh?  I suppose I have to take a step back, about how Sunny was like her.  A small one, at least.  Her love for Kyle, at least, isn't in question, though.  Otherwise, Sunny wouldn't feel like she feels for him.        :-]

‘Ian wants his Wanda back and he doesn't care how she looks. Kyle wants his Jodi back and he very much cares how she looks.’       Not entirely sure what to make of it...

                That was hard.

Leave it to Sunny to be so selfless.  But that’s typical of the souls, right?  Once you win their hearts…

All I can say is that I’m very happy to know things won’t happen the way they think, or the end would leave me very depressed.  Just wonder what Jodi would think about all of it, if she could.

Oooooh, booooy!  Meyer never hinted anything like this,  you know that, right?        :-P

That was good!  I wonder what made Sunny so bold.  Pure desperation?  Or Kyle was right, and she saw something in his eyes?

It’s beginning to look like Kyle have some budging feelings for Sunny herself.  And I’m reluctant to call it cheating in this most unusual context.  Not only Jodi is kind of part of her now, literally, but, by the way you described Sunny and Jodi, they seem to be very much alike.  Much more than Mel and Wanda, for example.

The end of the chapter was sad, but you’re following the book.  And we know Kyle hadn’t give up at this point, so it was the right thing to do.  Good piece, Fae.

Geez, talk about mixed signs!  Right now, I don’t envy these two.

You’re really good in translating the situation into words.

Ok, now you made me sorry for Kyle.  We are not used to separate mind from body, are we?  Specially when the mind in question is so much like Jodi herself.

I’m really curious about what will be Kyle’s mindset when they fail to restore Jodi.

She’s so naïve, isn’t she?  But that’s another score for you.  It sounds exactly like the way Sunny would behave where Kyle is concerned.  Very good, Fae!

Fae, I love your attention to details.  And I think you nailed Kyle, and Sunny, perfectly.  That was a great rendition of Jodi’s abduction.

                Now, I’m sure you’re a good writer.        ^_^

I don’t remember.  Did it happen in the book?  She stopped dream about him?  And what is it she was planning?  Request another host?  Anyway,  poor thing.

Well, at least you showed Kyle acknowledging Wanda’s worth.  Thanks for that.  And for glossing over his monumental attempted mistake.

Ah, if he only knew how little that “something” laughs.  How much she thinks about him.   Hmm, thinking about it, that’s a good question.  How would he feel about it, at this point in time.

I always thought Kyle as a brutish idiot, at least until he snatches Sunny.  Yours, I feel almost sympathetic with  (still holding a grudge for him trying to kill Wanda).        :-]

Ah, a bit of Kyle.  Again, good job portraying him.  Makes you even understand what he tried to do with Wanda.  Doesn’t make it less wrong, mind you, but at least makes (more) sense.

Damn, but that was hot!!  You’re not making it easy for poor Sunny, are you?

You know, I’m beginning to think you’re a really good writer.        ;)

Summary:

I hadn't liked 17-year-old boys even when I was 17. So what is it about Edward Cullen that's so compelling? Whatever it is, I can't afford to find out.

So, this is where you're hiding.  You left Twilighted too, right?  Pity.  I like it there.  But I won't let your story slip away because of that.        ;)

"It's just like high school - she still has it bad for him," Tyler said, shaking his head and looking at Angela talking to Ben, and Angela's comment when I first met her that she liked nerdier types suddenly had a new dimension. "And Ben still has it for her."        Ah, so he's really from Forks, and really Angela's Ben, huh?  Cool.

'Also inside were Sue's gorgeous pregnant daughter, Leah, who was a little older than me and did office work at a casino, and her taciturn husband, Sam, a commercial fisherman.'        Timing is everything, it seems.  I hope Sam won't wolf out and imprint on Emily.  I can't imagine how much worse it would be this time for Leah.        :(

'The hike back was easier because of the descent but as we neared the end Jacob seemed to be struggling.        "Are you all right?" I asked him as he stumbled and lurched into Seth.(...)        "Maybe you've got that flu that's being going around, the one I had," Seth said. Jacob glared at him, then doubled over in pain.'        The one Seth had??  Uh.  Oh!!!

"What do you think of gay marriage, Ms. Swan?" It was Justin Stanley, of course, lolling about in his chair and smirking.        "It's interesting that you bring that up. A little later in the year we'll be working on the persuasive essay, and that might be a topic you want to explore, if you're enthusiastic about same-sex marriage."        "I'm not, not – I'm not enthusiastic about it."        "Oh, that's fine," I chirped. "You can be conflicted about it. In fact, that might make a better essay, a more passionate essay, talking about your feelings –"        BWWAHAHAHAHAAAHH!!  That was priceless!        X-D

'He stepped closer to me. "You don't have to run away from me, Miss Swan," he said quietly. "Don't run."        Oh, yes, I do, I thought. But it was becoming more and more obvious to me that I wouldn't. One day I would fall off the precipice of proper behavior, and Edward would be there to catch me. Then disaster would follow.'        I, from my part, can't wait for that day.  He's becoming bolder, isn't he?        X-]

As for Raquel and Seth...  Well, all that talk about genetic improvement of the shifters, assurance that the gene will be passed...  They are all just theories.  No one in the SMeyer universe really knows how imprinting works.  And let's not forget Nessie's case.  I think it will be hard to find an imprint farthest from the Quileute genetic pool than her.        ;)

Of course, it means that you, as an author, is free to assume those theories are the truth.  Personally, I think Rachel and Seth will make a good couple.  All in all, good chapter, Eiluned.  I'm just wondering when the big turning point will come.
