Oh thank you Jesus! Now I'm actually grateful that it took me so long to find this story. I think I would have gone crazy if I had to wait for this chapter after the last one. After my comment on the last chapter, I kind of felt psychic for a moment when Edward finally explained to Bella. This chapter was perfect! Just the right blend of sheer terror, anger, angst and resolution. Kept me on the edge of my seat for the whole chapter. In fact I read it so fast trying to find out how it ended that I have to go back and reread it now to catch all the nuances.
I now have to wait for the secret to Esme's garden, but I know that perfection takes time. I'm sending good writing vibes your way. (And I'm wondering if/how the other ladies will find out what really happened.)

Good news is the next chapter is half done already. It's been sitting on the shelf since last March just waiting for the perfect opportunity to share. It should be ready by next weekend.

Something tells me that you aren't really sorry for the cliffy. I want to be a fly on the wall when the Cullen brothers catch up with Demetri. I promise I won't get in the way, but someone needs to document his injuries when they finally beat the everloving sh*t out of him. Surely they can get the pack to hide the body when they are done. And who is on the other side of the door, Carlisle? If so, out of the frying pan and into the fire. I don't know about Bella, but there is not enough pain to convince me to put on Demetri's 'costume.' I would want to make sure that I could run fast fast fast if the opportunity presented itself.
Please don't leave us hanging for too long...

I was wondering how you would get rid of Carlisle. I knew he had to go, because there could be no HEA with him in the picture. I think I'm glad everything went down the way it did, but I would have been happier if he had died knowing that all his plans for his sons carrying on the "Cullen legacy" were for naught. Kind of disappointed that we didn't get the satisfaction of his reaction. He really was sick in the head, though, wasn't he?
I know that Edward will let Bella go. He loves her too much to hold her against her will. I do hope, though, that once he does, that she stays with him. They have never had a conventional relationship, but I believe that after all the adversity they have faced that they would do well together. Yes, Edward is free and a much better man than he should have been, given his upbringing, but I am a faithful E/B shipper and I really want Bella's HEA to be Edward's, too. You know best, though.

I was so unhappy last chapter when BElla asked Edward to let her go even though I knew that it HAD to happen. Neither of them was in a healthy place for a relationship to grow. As this chapter progressed, I hoped and hoped that it would work out the way I wanted it to, even though I was steeling myself for disappointment. I didn't know if Bella would ever feel comfortable enough with Edward and all the past they shared to move forward. Thank you for the happy almost ending. I feel very hopeful now.
The novel idea sounds good. I would love to see new material and more backstory. I'm so glad that more of the authors are branching out like this. It feels weird when I read familiar situations with new character names, but after a while I get used to it, so I say go for it - I'll buy one!
